1. Demon's Souls

This game redefined the conception of online play in an rpg. Challenging game with memorable atmosphere.

2. The Witcher 2

Showed how to make a modern old school wrpg if that makes any sense. I gave it to The Witcher 2 and not to the first because the second one nailed the gameplay much better than the first one IMO. Also CD Projekt approach to copyright and distribution is the one gamers should be supporting.

3. Braid

Showed games can be truly art forms. From the visuals to the story to the gameplay the game is so finely crafted that it is basically art.

4. Uncharted 2

One of the most awarded games in history and well deserved. Showed a new way to make action adventure games that brought action cinema and gaming together. Not to mention the sheer epicness of its scenery.

5. Amnesia

Finally one game that does survival horror as it should, scary as fvck and we should support indie devs.

6. Heavy Rain

Bringing cinema, story telling and gaming even closer. I suspect we'll be seeing more of this in the future as games get taken more and more seriously as a legitimate art form. Loved the story too.

7. Little Big Planet

The whole concept of create and share than anyone can jump into is awesome and something that hopefully gets more popular with time. This has potential not only for games but for education too.

8. Vanquish

How an arcade game must be made. Perfect and tight gameplay with awesome mechanics. Challenging as hell.

9. Valkyria Chronicles

Great approach at strategic rpgs. A fresh experience.

10. Journey

Another art game that is almost a spiritual experience in itself.

That stinks but thanks for letting me know. Although I love all three games it is not a hard choice for me since I think ME3 is the best of the series.

I just think that ME3 impoved on everthing. I could really go into a lot better detail why but a short discription of why.

Story wise all three are amazing for me, It is basically a draw between the 3 on story. I do disagree with most the ME2 did not have a story since I think the story was the characters in your group. Each game had moments that really tug at my heart strings which never happens to me in games. I would say though that ME3 had some moments that tug the hardest but those would be spoilers.

Skills were handled the best in ME3 from how you choose them to the skills themselves. In ME1 if you want to use a sniper as a soldier you need to spend I think it is 7 points into rifle to use a sniper which was lame.If you never even plan on using a rifle then that is wasted skill points. It is that way for many skills also in ME1. In ME3 you also have the ability to design the skills more to how you play for example in fitness you can choose a more offensive style or a defensive style.

Combat was the best in ME3. The combat in ME1 was nothing great In ME1 biotic and Tech skills IMO were a waste since I could just kill so much faster as a soldier. In ME2 the combat got much better but anyone that plays hardcore or insanity will have some type of shielding on every mob even husks. The reason that is bad is that almost every biotic does not work on them then and many tech skills. In ME3 the enemies were still tough but most you could use biotics on. I felt so powerful with my adept towrds the end because it was nothing but biotic explosions everywhere clearling groups of them. So not only was the gun combat really fleshed out but you really were able to enjoy biotics and tech classes to their fullest.

The skills also had a better look and I thought better functions in ME3. Even in ME2 there were skills that were never used by anyone but the skills in ME3 could all be useful. There may still be some skills that would be a better choice when choosing but none are complete wastes.Like I said a better look also like when casting them.

Graphics were the best in ME3 but that is to be expected with it being the third one. That really does not influence me though other then it is weird to go back to ME1 after playing ME1.

I think the ending was not great but I do not think it is as bad as most do. My biggest rant about ME3 was the Tali pic. Man that still pisses me off.

Ah, I see, excellent read. What class did you pick overall (how did it affect biotics?) and did you get the extended ending DLC? How did that change your experience of the game's story which I see you liked?

1-Uncharted 2

2-Super Mario Galaxy

3-Batman Arkham Asylum - This goes before the second because it just has a better atmosphere being contained in one dreary prison.

4-inFamous

5-COD4 - One of the first games I played this gen, it's all been downhill in multiplayer games since this

6-Zelda Twilight Princess - Series never had a better set of dungeons than this.

7-Bioshock

8-Either Mass Effect 1 or 2, 2 had much better gameplay but ME1 had such a better story, I don't even feel like putting the series on a top 10 lost because of how terrible the ending was. I'll pick Mass effect 2.

9-Sleeping Dogs

10-Red Dead

I play all the classes cept Vanguard and infiltrator. The class I prefer is adept though. Like I said before in ME3 you just walk around doing a crap ton of biotic explsions. The best is lift then throw. Those spells have almost no recharge time and it does great damage. I almost never even fire a gun when playing adept. If I am not able to use lift then stasis and then throw. I always play adept in ME2 also but they are much better in ME3.
I got the both DLC and getting the coming one next month also. As far as how did my opinion change with the ending. My main beef with the ending did not change and I think there should be a sunshine and rainbows ending also which there is not. No matter what happens Shep is dead or at the very best you see someone in N7 armor taking a breath. It is better in how you see some of your choices had a effect which was nice. a Example like how you see the krogan rebuilding. With the DLC the ending was much better but it is a shame that you get a dead Shep no matter what. I would love something like how in ME1 just when you think Shep is dead at the end he/she jumps on some rubble and gives a silly smirk. I still do not hate the ending as much as most people do though.
Can't have 2 games from the same franchise , ala Batman City / Asylum. You have to remove one of them.

Lolno. Sentinels and Infiltrators are much more valuable. Vanguards are the funnest to play though , by far.

Leave this thread open for like... 2 more days. I'm playing through Alan Wake right now and Enslaved comes in the mail tomarrow. I wanna give them a chance to possibly sway my opinion (Enslaved may have a legitimate chance. I've been wanting to play it since 2010).

It's very possible! I don't see Alan Wake impressing me enough to make it in my top ten. I'm only a few hours in but I'm already starting to notice a really big flaw (the game is starting to get very repetitive). I love the atmosphere and visuals though.

I really didn't like Enslaved. I had heard some good things about it on this board and decided to give it a shot. Couldn't even make it half way due to how mind numbingly simplistic the combat and platforming was

Being simple doesn't make it bad or not fun. The setting, story and voice acting are the main selling points, they were just superb. Those three aspects were better than a majority of AAA titles and provided enough incentive for me to keep playing.

I played the first 4 hours and couldn't get into the story. Maybe it gets better but I was so bored with the repetitive combat and hold analog stick in one direction and press X without the possibility of failing that I couldn't continue playing it

I'm intrigued by the setting and the story seems like it has a lot of potential. Ninja Theory are great devs when it comes to creating immersive worlds and characters. I thought Heavenly Sword was great even though the combat is similarily simplistic. I guess I'll find out tomarrow.

I only paid 9 dollars for it so no big deal if it ends up sucking.

i loved it. one of the few games where the story actually held my attention. also, dat soundtrack. the platforming was good to me too, of course i'm a huge fan of PoP 08 so...

i'm a sucker for platformers in general.

One of my most despised games this gen :P

I may just be over the whole 3D platformer genre. I grew up playing them and veen played all of the PoP games on PS2 and they were some of my favorite games last gen. I had high hopes for PoP 2008 and hated it. I may have gone into Enslaved with the wrong mindset and approached it as a combat game rather than a story centric game.

If this list is for every game release this gen period regardless of system, it'd be much easier. Anyway: 1. Uncharted 2 2. Batman Arkham City 3. Assassin creed II 4. Dark Souls 5. Gears of war 6. Metal Gear Solid 4 7. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite 8. Bioshock 9. Dead Space 10. Bayonetta

Going through this thread I think pretty much any game listed guaranteed to be in the top 100. I'm not even sure 100 different games have been listed

My list has Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Prince of Persia 2008, and Loco Roco 2 off the top of my head that have a poor chance of making it. But you're pretty accurate in this statement otherwise.

Oh I thought it was a Top 100. My mistake :P More people need to make submissions though. I know it will be a pain in the ass to count all the votes, but I am genuinely interested in the results and want as many different inputs as possible.

If I had to take a wild guess it's looking like Batman: Arkham City will be number 1 right now. Well deserved if it ends up that way.

I see a few people picking Asylum over it though so that might end up screwing it.
