1. Demon's Souls
This game redefined the conception of online play in an rpg. Challenging game with memorable atmosphere.
2. The Witcher 2
Showed how to make a modern old school wrpg if that makes any sense. I gave it to The Witcher 2 and not to the first because the second one nailed the gameplay much better than the first one IMO. Also CD Projekt approach to copyright and distribution is the one gamers should be supporting.
3. Braid
Showed games can be truly art forms. From the visuals to the story to the gameplay the game is so finely crafted that it is basically art.
4. Uncharted 2
One of the most awarded games in history and well deserved. Showed a new way to make action adventure games that brought action cinema and gaming together. Not to mention the sheer epicness of its scenery.
5. Amnesia
Finally one game that does survival horror as it should, scary as fvck and we should support indie devs.
6. Heavy Rain
Bringing cinema, story telling and gaming even closer. I suspect we'll be seeing more of this in the future as games get taken more and more seriously as a legitimate art form. Loved the story too.
7. Little Big Planet
The whole concept of create and share than anyone can jump into is awesome and something that hopefully gets more popular with time. This has potential not only for games but for education too.
8. Vanquish
How an arcade game must be made. Perfect and tight gameplay with awesome mechanics. Challenging as hell.
9. Valkyria Chronicles
Great approach at strategic rpgs. A fresh experience.
10. Journey
Another art game that is almost a spiritual experience in itself.
