What the **** are you talking about? They have been discounting games up to 95% off. The vast majority of their entire offering hits 75% at some point during the sale.

It's getting harder and harder to find good deals because everyone has everything already.

I had to choose what I could afford during the Halloween sale and settle for less than all I wanted to buy. Live and PSN never force that on me.

looking for deals on FFXIII

Actually many devs love steam sales as it increases the amount of money they get and attracts more people to their game. Many devs had to compete for the front page of steam during sale events.

They may as well just charge $5 at launch for every PC game but even then people would probably wait for a sale.

I got nothing during the last sale... And so far there is no game I actually want that's out simply because I have it either paid full price or got it during a previous sale.

Is it only new games, mostly? I'm looking more into older games as my actual copies of Commandos, Rainbow Six, and some others wont run on my computer for some reason. Half Life gives me some odd message about serial keys. I keep forgetting that my current laptop can run all the greats from that era just fine.

I'd avoid old games on Steam. They don't properly support the titles.

gog.com is the only distributor that personally ports each game to work natively with Windows 7 onwards (excluding some DOS games).
