I tried it last night. Wouldn't play stuff like Forza on the cloud, But spent an hour playing DQ11 on my iPad and work just fine, picked up my save as well.

It's been available on Android for a while now. I agree cloud gaming will never be great for certain types of games but turn based stuff and strategy games are great. I just had half an hour on Like A Dragon using my iPad and xbox controller.

Anyone else try it yet? I’m… underwhelmed. I don’t think it’s any better than Stadia. Performance wise, it might even be worse. I’ll try out more games in the next few days. But so far, this ain’t it

Works fine for me. Was just trying SoR4 on my iPad and you wouldn't have known it was streaming. Never tried Stadia though so can't compare to that.

@davillain-: what is handheld gaming? Isn't it simply gaming on the go? Wouldn't it be great if we could do that without latency or performance hiccups?

I love that switch is a "dedicated" handheld device with offline gaming and traditional controls, but I still want them to develop a way that I can play games on the go with my Ps or xbx!

Handheld is a lifestyle choice baby!

Lol, I am most certainly not going to pay for "Ultimate" to stream games. As it is I'm on the fence about the base price. But - if you've got an Xbox console it's a no brainer given the XBL factor in the mix

Cool. Not really into streaming games myself, definitely prefer to have the dedicated hardware and games running natively but it’s kind of nice to at least have it as an option. Might give it a try sometime just to check it out.

Xbox cloud gaming has been going on for the last 5 years or so. Xbox cloud sync needs to be improved though. I have a series X and a series S at home, and play a game called subnautica on whichever is available. When I try to load my last save point, it doesn't always sync up properly if I played it on the other console. It could be the game itself is the issue, theres no denying that the game is a hot buggy mess. But maybe the implementation of xbox cloud could have been better done by MS? I have do some voodo stuff to get it working, d/c my internet, turn off the console, pull out the plug and put it back in then pray for the best. Its incredibly frustrating at times.

I get that it's the future and inevitable but for me personally I don't care, at least until the technology can deliver more than the native hardware does. As in when I can have a 3090 level performance on my Series X.

I also don't care much for gaming on the go so yeah, whatever. But more options is always good.

On a serious note I'm happy for lemmings who can't afford a gaming PC or an XSX to game natively. Now they can stream Xbox games on their phones.

My Rankings

Buying Digital Game > Buying Physical Game > Yawning > GamePass > Taking a Dump > X-Cloud

I'm also a huge netflix guy but gaming is a completely different meta medium

Cloud gaming at the moment doesn't impact "ownership" of games nor the playing of games locally. It is just an option. But, I understand your concern. It is a valid concern because these companies are doing what is in their best interest. We have to also do what is in our best interest. 😊

This is a real game changer. I know System Wars is filled with gamers who will scoff at streaming, I myself prefer not using it. I don't even like to buy games digitally.

But from a business perspective its genius.

What is the biggest barrier to get people playing games and the #1 reason is cost. Especially when talking about gaming on PC. I myself have a great PC because I'm an adult with a well paying job. That was not the case when i was 16. The struggle was real to keep my PC above average.

How many people in this world cant drop $500-$600 bucks on a series x or ps5? How many people in this world cant drop $1000+ on a decent gaming PC?

I remember when Xcloud first released on Android and when i saw the next step was bringing game pass to potato PC's... that caught my ear. This is something that could explode the industry to an even bigger market and the market is already huge.

There are more phones, tablets, and Potato PC's in this world than PS5's Series X'x or RTX graphics cards.

It's not even close.

We all know MS is turning its business model to focus more on game pass.

Funny too is that you have gamers scoffing at people like myself who still prefer physical to digital.

As the internet gets better and streaming becomes more and more common. The streamers will be making fun of the players downloading and buying hard drives for their games.

I prefer physical, but the writing is on the wall. TBH i don't find any benefit to digital over streaming once the internet can handle streaming with ease. Physical will always be superior to both.

But yeah, Microsoft is going to eat Sony's lunch, Sony is working on a new machine gun bragging about it while MS is in the back figuring out how to split the atom.

Tried streaming on PC using Yakuza Zero and worked great. Other than a minor hitch in the beginning, it ran very smooth.. Definitely would prefer native play but this seems to be a viable option..

And this was out of town on hotel WiFi, I'd imagine it's going to be even better on my home network..

Cool, why not.

This is great for Gamepass in particular, because you can try games out before you download them, saving you time if you don't like it.

Just another one of those nice on paper type things but not really something most people really care about.
