Todd Howard On Starfield's Xbox Exclusivity: 'It's Just Awesome'

The team gets help from "the top engineers" at Xbox

"It is exclusive - Xbox, PC...keep in mind for us that exclusivity is not unique even though we've done PlayStation stuff...we were traditionally PC developers in the beginning, we transitioned to Xbox, [it] became our lead platform, like Morrowind was basically exclusive to Xbox, Oblivion was exclusive to Xbox for a long period of time...our initial stuff is all Xbox, so we get into development saying we're focused on Xbox, it's not abnormal for us in any way..."

Todd went on to explain how focusing exclusively on Xbox has allowed the development team to actually get more out of the platform it's working with:

"From a development side, I like the ability to focus...and have help from them - the top engineers at Xbox, to say 'we are going to make this look incredible on the new systems', is like from my standpoint, it's just awesome."

This is looking to be the massive blockbuster hit that we have all been waiting for this gen on consoles. Hard to believe it's almost here! What say you fellow SW fans? Are you looking forward to this Xbox exclusive? It seems like Xbox and Bethesda are putting all hands on deck for polishing this up before release.

You're comparing a game made by one of the best studios in the whole industry to one that has never released a game in a non broken state. Give Bethesda 5 additional years, and they'll manage to release something almost as broken.

I have 59 hours in this game. Never had a single fps drop, freeze, glitch or bug. This is the most polished game i have played in ages.

The only comparison I made was they both got delayed, Ragnarok by at least a year and Starfield could well be less than that.

As I said it didn't do Ragnarok any harm and was soon forgotton.

You really think entry 5 into an existing franchise is as important as a new IP? LMAO. GoW couldn't even make as big of an impact as Pokemon. Plus, it's not exactly in any way "leading" the predictions of Game of the Year awards, because it has to go up against Elden Ring.

Starfield will justify or condemn the decision for MS to buy Bethesda.

GoW:R is a great game for it's genre, but it is not a title that will "define this generation".
