Spider-Man 2 is 10-11 hours long. Including cutscenes.

If you don’t want spoilers, obviously don’t hit play…but the 11 hour timestamp is still there to see. Other videos have completed the game in 10 hours.
Wowza. Estimates of 15 hours were way off, and this game will basically be done in 2 days. No mp, and even allowing for the more mundane sidequests…is this value for money?

Graphically, it looks great…but all the screen prompts, QTE combat and continuous cutscenes just bore me to tears.

Honestly, that's enough play-time for me. If I can smash that and most of the side-content in 15-20hrs, i'm happy.

Sweet. The game is already available for free on Youtube. Good to see it is multi platform prior to launch.

That is short. They should of added more side quests that add into the main story. But all in all that video game is not only about the main story. Side quests are a big part of the game.

Yeah I don't mind.

Bring back 5-6 hour shooters for €80.

I'll pay.

It took the GS reviewer 30 hours to Plat, can probably get an easy 20 hours out of a casual playthrough.

I was just reading a ign article about how long spiderman 2 was and some were finishing the main story in 19 and 25 hours. I guess the 11 hours is a speed run.

That sounds about right for the average Marvel fans to enjoy this game anyway. Marvel fans are gonna have a helluva time with Spider-Man 2. But for me, I'll wait for PC port.

How can people defend this?

Not only has Sony raised the price of the game by $10 (in the US, it's worse elsewhere) but they've shortened the game aswell 🤦‍♂️

@ghostofgolden: A quick YT search shows 3 videos from nearly 5hrs to nearly 7hrs. Either way it's a damn lot.

I’m more about the experience of the game then it’s overall length. Would rather have a short, fun, and succinct time then something that has been needlessly padded with filler content.

@Archangel3371: Anyone who skips the cutscenes is getting 5-6 hours gameplay. The side quests are the padding, and I can’t remember an AAA game with that little gameplay. Maybe the early CODs, but their attraction was always the MP.

@sealionact: I certainly won’t be skipping the cutscenes myself as I really want to take in the story and all that. There’s always some “padding” in games, it’s the needless or boring stuff that is simply there to waste time that I’d rather not have. That stuff can be pretty subjective. Anyway I don’t really put a whole lot of stock in other people’s play times as I generally take longer to complete my games. I’m fine with shorter games as long as I find it to be a fun and solid experience.

Um, yeah? Are side quests not part of the game?

That still leaves over 17 hours of main quest.

Including cutscenes?

So it's actually like...6-7 hours of gameplay then? 😋

@nod_calypse said:

That's not good for an open-world game, dude.

I'm all for quality over quantity (and I'm sure the game is quality), but I'm also for context and standards....and the context of an open world game is that it plays for a looooooooong time, and the standard is also that it plays for a looooooooong time.

This easily places Spider-Man 2 into the "ripoff" category. I hope the folks that think otherwise enjoy it, though!

FIVE HOURS! JESUS CHRIST!

Even if you get 20 hours out of the game (that's a lot of sidequests for a game with a 7-hour campaign) that still a quarter of your time with the game is passive, immersion-breaking cutscenes.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez...

I am one of those people, but this is taking it the other, similarly-negative extreme.

When someone says "open world games are bloated" the solution isn't to shrink it down...it's to make it more meaningful.

I'm referring more to the 200+ hour grinds of Assassin's Creed, for example. Shrink it down to 100-150 hours and make it more meaningful.

$70? I’m good. I’ll wait till it’s $20 and all patched up with DLC. After Miles Morales, I’m not giving them full price anyways. Some dialogue and choices in that game that just didn’t need to be there. They can eat my shorts. $70 for 10 hours…🥱

30 hours for platinum is good enough. Especially if game is quality, not some loading shit.

@SolidGame_basic: Serious question. Are you going to pay Sony $10 more for a game that takes less time to complete its story than the first?

It's a legit question, let's see I'd you can give a legit answer.

To be fair, Spider-man is filled with repetitive side content.

I recently played through the SM Remastered DLC and every one of them added outposts to capture, challenges by the streamer, and collectables around the map.

I dont mind the repetitive crimes...............I mean Spiderman is a superhero after all.............but I refused to do yet another set of collectables or clear another base.

The story in Miles Morales was super short, same for Ratchet RA. Its clear that Sony is having Insomniac pump out these titles quickly so I dont blame them for putting in filler to be honest.........just dont charge $70
