Sony Introduces New Genre To Gaming.... Zen Gaming

"I just got some information from Sony about upcoming PlayStation 3 game "Flower." Included in that announcement is the official genre for the game:

"Zen gaming"

It's not being called a flight game. It's not labeled a nature game. It's zen gaming. You play by tilting and turning your PS3 controller, flying a growing collection of flower petals across landscapes, making flowers bloom as you touch them. The game is set for an early 2009 release.

I've got nothing more to add except a suggestion that… we need more "zen gaming." Agree?"

Cool that's what I love about Sony they are always giving us something new and something to look forward to. What's really wierd is I think they have created more innovated games this generation then Nintendo. :shock:

This isn't anything new, "trance-like" games have been around since the DOS days. It's rather odd to heavily commercialize a genre under the title of "zen". Buy your Zen right here, only $10! Can't reach enlightment without your zen game!

yeah infact there are no more games coming out...... oohh wait PS3 will be getting games such as KZ2, RE5, Infamous, FFXIII, WKC, GT5, Heavy rain, SFIV, Tekken6, GOW3, Uncharted2 and much more... if you call that hitting the bottom we have different point of views !!!

When I read "Zen Gaming" my first thought was: "Rez"

Flow, Everyday Shooter, Flower, Eden, Echochrome, etc.

I really enjoy these types of games and hope Sony continues to support the PSN store by continuously providing them.
The use of the sixaxis in Flow was really cool. I hope Flower is just as good.aflakian

I believe Wii Fit with the Wii Board can be describe as Zen gaming aswell because I believe there's certain excercise moves that you can perform on the board like stretching and meditating and moving your chi around.

"Zen Gaming". Sounds like a more expensive way to say "casual".

it's official... PS3 owners can no longer complain about the Wii's casual appeal.
