I've been hearing lots of people talk about how the Last of Us remastered version is a rip off. Am I missing something here? Last of Us for the PS3 is still a 60 dollar game brand new at Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, and pretty much any other major retailer I can think of. We are getting a next generation version of the game with the DLC, the Abandoned multiplayer map pack, and a new unreleased map pack included for the same price, yet we are somehow being ripped off? I have friends that were Xbox gamers last gen that didn't get to play Last of Us but switched to PS4 this generation and are stoked to be able to play this game. How exactly is it that we are being ripped off when Last of Us for the PS3 is still 60 bucks brand new? If you already bought the game last gen, nobody is forcing you to buy it again.

People are also still under the impression that the game is solely targeted towards people who already paid for the PS3 version instead of the many who swapped sides and went from 360 to PS4. I'm fairly sure they wouldn't mind paying full price for the game that cows hyped so much they forgot about MGS4.

It's $60 for a better looking version of a game that already came out less than a year ago. A great game, but nearly the exact same nonetheless.

It's Madden, but in exclusive form and with $400 being spent to play it before the $60 that comes again.

But I'd still buy it if I had a PS4.

Also this, I suppose the remastered PS4 version should be bargain priced in comparison with the PS3 version?

I dont mind it. I didn't play Tomb Raider last gen and played it on PS4 once the Definitive Edition came out and loved it. Just don't buy the game again if you already bought it last gen.

It's simple: $60. It should not cost that. Period. $40 should always be the standard price point for an HD port (which this is).

But Last of Us is still a fairly new game. The PS3 version is still 60 bucks so why should a new and improved version with added content be cheaper?

I don't think it's really that big of a deal since it's still $60 on the PS3.

Where will it end? Why should devs spend more making new games when they can just re-release last gen games for full price?

Why should the PS4 version be bargain price? The PS3 version is still full price, and PS4 version is better.

Because the value of video games don't hold up and while not necessarily a cash grab it gives the developers cadence to raise the price on actual new games.
What would stop them from saying "well games are 59.99 now, but so are HD ports, we should raise the price of original IPs and next gen games to 69.99, yeah that seems fair"

I agree, except for the $60 dollars part. You can get TLOU on Amazon for only $40 now. Amazon has been awesome with discounts on games lately.

So what? It is choice. People have a right to play a game they missed prior gens or didn't have the console to play it on. I don't see why anyone would whine about that. No one is forced to make any purchase. Hell....I wish shooters weren't so popular. That doesn't mean I whine about their existence. I just don't spend money on them. Try that approach. Let others do what they want with their money.

I dunno, seems like a pretty good deal with all the content you're getting and it's still $60 on the PS3. It is an HD port though, so it's expected that it's cheaper than $60.

Lets see a game being rereleased at 60 dollars less than a year after its initial release.....yeah seems like the same rip off Sony pulled with Gran turismo pay for demo.

Do you know what rip off means? Because it seems you do not. Supply and demand works. If the demand isn't there....the pricing structure is different. But if you willingly choose to purchase a game at retail price....that does NOT constitute rip off. And considering the big MS fan boy you are.....I'm surprised you'd even accuse anyone else of being a rip off.

If the game released at less than $60 then it would only be second time in gaming history that a re-release sold at a lower price than the previous version was still selling at, which is incredibly moronic.

Really, whats up with that? I've been waiting since forever for a price drop on this game... where I live is still full price and usually sony games dont take this long for a price drop. Is this a strategy from sony to make people buy the PS4 version? tsk tsk

As someone that tries to be as unbias as possible. I can see both sides of the coin. Some are saying that it's milkage because the game is already out. But what i think they fail to see is that the game is not really targeted for people who bought it on PS3. Sure, they can buy it but it would be like buying Titanfall for the 360, then getting it again for the Xbox One because it has better graphics. Personally, i am going to buy it because it's $60, just like the PS3 version still is, but it comes with the $15 DLC for free. So to me, I'm paying the same as PS3 users, but getting free DLC and better graphics.

Time doesn't matter. A lot of games drop relatively quickly. It doesn't matter if it's "under a year old" you ever follow game price drops? You ever see a steam sale? You ever see a sale in general?

Also the fact that plenty of people already bought it... Why would a person go out to buy the remastered version when they already have a copy? This reminds me of how they put Deus Ex on the Wii U like it would make a difference.

THE PS3 VERSION IS STILL 60 DOLLARS. What point of this do you not understand?? Most big games take time for their prices to drop.

Yeah, they should release the remastered version at gamestop for $40 even though the PS3 version still costs $60 there because the game is on sale at Amazon.

I can see why people would think that. The game is less than a year old.

Great for those who didn't play it the first time, mind you.

@applefan1991: It's releasing almost a full year later. The value of it's OG content + DLC decreases over time not the reverse (like any game, really). Plus as far as development costs go, ND themselves said they have a small team working on this, with their main workforce working on the next Uncharted; therefore it's costing them but a mere fraction of what the OG cost to develop, thus the $20 makes no real sense.

And as some have said, when you have HD ports going for $60, what's stopping new games form costing $70 or $80? These sort of precedents, if they become a widespread practice, bring more problems than solutions for us in the long run.

No he's right. Basically it's a $75 game retailing for $60. That is a $15 discount.

$60 for an old game and all they had to do was change a few graphics settings in the text files.

Last of Us is under a year old and the PS3 version is 60 bucks new. So....

Time doesn't matter. A lot of games drop relatively quickly. It doesn't matter if it's "under a year old" you ever follow game price drops? You ever see a steam sale? You ever see a sale in general?

THE PS3 VERSION IS STILL 60 DOLLARS. What point of this do you not understand?? Most big games take time for their prices to drop.

Actually when I bought it...it didn't cost that much. So I don't think you're correct.

So you bought a used version. Grats.
