So Sea of Thieves was built ground up to be a Twitch game.

The problem here is, games become popular in the streaming scene on their own merits. You can't make a game basing it on a fad, it has to evolve into it on its own within the community. Look at Halo 5. MS and 343 forced the multiplayer to be based around the competitive/MLG scene even though the Bungie Halo games became competitive within its own quality.

Sea of Thieves is going to fail in what MS wants it to be no matter how much money they throw around it, just like Halo 5. People are going to have some fun with it and realize the game doesn't have threads to sustain any longevity. It is as shallow as it looks.

Sea of Thieves will be a monster success. It will also build it's number from word of mouth like Monster Hunter did. That will be the big story of 2018 in videogaming. The community will carry quality sleeper hits.

They're reeeally banking on the community aspect of it, which could make it a high-profile failure if they don't get it right. But then again, I'm not really the audience for this kind of game.

No, it was built ground up to be a co-op game. Streaming is just a by-product of that.

Whether it has depth or longevity is an entirely different matter

Yep it looks like your typical flavour of the month twitch bait game.

That comment makes no sense since I've never been wrong.
