So hermits, which is graphics king now: Crysis or Battlefield 3?

Ok so I have just spent the last two days playing Battlefield 3 at my friends house and I am blown away at how amazing it looks. We played it on Ultra settings at 1080p and the detail of the textures, lighting and smoke effects are truly awe inspiring. So awe inspiring that I think this might be better than Crysis. It's been two years since I've seen Crysis so my memory is a bit hazy on how great it looks, but considering Battlefield operates on an even larger scale than Crysis and has arguably better smoke and lighting effects I think Crysis has been kicked off it's throne. So what's your opinion hermits? Crysis or Battlefield 3? Don't bring mods into this, just vanilla please.

I still think that Crysis 1 looks better than BF3. BF3 has terrible anti-aliasing and low-res textures here and there. The Witcher 2 isn't so bad for a DX9 game.Elann2008

I wan't moar tessellation I'n BF3 first. Seeing terrain being tessellated in the distance it pretty pointless honestly....

Modded Crysis looks like what happens to your toilet after Taco Bell compared to Battlefield 3. It also has no destruction.

Crysis. BF3's lighting is very good but other than that it doesn't look as good as Crysis IMO. Characters lack self shadows, alot of lights dont cast shadows, textures aren't up there, reflections are iffy at times, and AA is terrible. BF3 looks freaking great, dont get me wrong, but there is alot of missing "features" that detract from the overal image quality.

Witcher 2, totally maxed would be my pick.

But technically I would actually have to go with BF3. Crysis fully modded is a very good looking game but still I feel as if the tech behind BF3is a step forward. I can almost bet my shorts that when texture mods and what not are starting to appear BF3 will look even so much better.

Crysis 2 with the latest tweaks

That are so many graphic mods for Crysis.. this game is a legend these days, it was the irrefutable graphic king for at least 3 years, still looks far better than any console game, and it's arguably one of the best looking games in 2011. 4 years later, forever in gaming, still looks incredible. Nothing surpasses how good modded Crysis looks. Battlefield 3 > Vanilla Crysis (without any ToD modifications) though.

There was a spat here (at System Wars, that is) earlier about modded Crysis and Crysis 2. Right now (based on the screenies), those two games modded blow everything out of the water except maybe modded GTA4.

There was a fan of Crysis and another of Crysis 2 going at each other. All that time they were going at it, I spent my time gawking at the modded images they posted. It was like, "Wow!"

I'm a console gamer, but I don't think I've seen anything match BF3. It really is that "next step".

i was angry at hermits were bashing Crysis 2 just because it was a console port and refused to accept Crysis 2 as the graphics king

both look great, but Crysis 2 still looks better, more people need to play the Blackfire mod in DX11, so much better in motion

I played Crysis 2 the other day with that blackfire mod and maldo's texture pack 3.0 in 3D. Looked just incredibly good imo and yeah i think it looks better than crysis 1.

Battlefield 3 has far more realistic lighting and effects than Crysis. Crysis with mods = tons of bloom and HDR tweaks to cover up graphical flaws.

BF3 has much better textures, environments, interactivity, lighting, particles, and actually runs at 60fps on ultra with today's hardware. You can't run Crysis at more than like 57 FPS with 2x GTX 580s at a repsectible resolution, it won't even let you.

Crysis looks good and it does really large levels well, but it quickly falls to nothing after that. BF3 has much more detail in the enviornments and doesn't rely on a layer of wax to make everything shiny and mask graphical defects.

So, BF3 has been declared the new Graphics King.

I will say Battlefield 3 looks more impressive then Crysis right now.
