Seems some peoples suspicions were correct. Nintendo is reported to be releasing the SNES Classic some time this year. Seems discontinuing the NES Classic was a smart ideal now as it will build hype for the next one. The NES Classic sold a ton, i wonder how many of these theyll sell.

Anyways, preorder ASAP before Nintendo discontinues this one too. I know ill be ordering as soon as i can. Be prepared for 2ft cord also. Anyone care to guess the 30 games that might be included?

About time! As soon as Nintendo makes it official announcements, I will pre-order ASAP!

The SNES was my first ever gaming console when my parents got it for me and it was the gateway entering the video gaming realm.

@davillain-: Gonna be hard to select 30 games for it. We might get 2-3 editions of this bad boy.

@iandizion713: I think they'll include Star Fox, (which shouldn't be no brainier cause it's the best rail-shooter of it's time) Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mario Legends, and so much more but the SNES had so many damn amazing games, I wouldn't be surprise if Nintendo put like over 50 games. Is that possible?

Looks great. Will sit nicely on my desk next to my NES mini. Will be hard for them to chose 30 games though.

Choosing 30 good games for the N64 mini will be harder though, not sure the good N64 games even ran into double figures!

@davillain-: It has to have Yoshi's Island. I love Yoshi's Island.

Maybe Megaman X if we're lucky? Super Metroid is a given. Super Punchout probably.

Don't worry guys, it most likely is going to use the same motherboard as the one found in the NES Mini, so expect it to get hacked really fast.

I played Yoshi Island as well and as for Meganman X, I own the X collection on PS2 but I can tell you that Megaman X was my first Megaman game I ever played before playing the classic one's. I also want to play Super Metriod as well.

Pirates? Its not like Nintendo is going to give you an option to buy more games for the SNES Mini, so why limit yourself to only 30 games?

@davillain-: Super Metroid is a beautifully designed game.

I adore Yoshi's Island. Although the aiming mechanics are antiquated, I love the rating system and you know, I never did complete all those bonus levels you unlock when you 100% every level in a world. ;)

@emgesp: So because it's not available on the thing you purchased, it's okay to steal it? I don't own a PS4, does that mean I'm game to download Zero Dawn illegally? That doesn't really make sense to me. :P

It needs to look like this:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/18/Wikipedia_SNES_PAL.jpg

I'm not buying that hideous Japanese/US version.

Edit: games I really want on this:

-DKC trilogy

-Super Mario World 1&2

-Super Mario All Stars

-Super Metroid

-Super Mario Kart

-Kirby's Dream Land

-Star Fox

-Zelda: A link to the Past

-NBA Jam

-Wild Guns

How about managing your supply chain properly Nintendo? And not discontinuing before your customers demands are met. I will be pre-ordering this as soon as possible. Super Punch-Out is awesome!

Pilotwings! But yeah i don't like these mini consoles. They should just release an online enabled SNES with an online store to buy any games you want on it. Maybe add online mode for some of the games or leaderboards

But that looks like it has just an RF out. This will have HDMI so won't look like arse on a modern telly. I'd buy a Genisis (or Mega Drive as we called it over here) no problem as well!

Eh, ye ole SW mantra of X1 gamers playing Last gen games via BC is crap and not wanted but now this is playing last, last, last etc to play old "N" games must mean sheep have no games. lol

Anyway, to each their own but lets just say I, if I wanted to but don't can play All the old games right now without having to buy some overpriced crap "N" is trying to push. :P

You can't steal something that is not available for purchase.

The roms in question come straight off SNES cartridges, and those cartridges have been discontinued since the 90's, so nothing is stolen.

How the hell can you steal them if they are locked away in a vault? We are talking about games that have been in circulation for over 20 yrs.

I hope you know that Nintendo themselves are selling you pirated roms they got off the internet.

But we aren't talking about the Wii U or 3DS. We are talking about the SNES Mini. If the SNES Mini had a way to legally download more games then you'd have a point, but it doesn't, so I don't see a problem with hacking the device to be able to play more games. If anything, the prospect of being able to hack the SNES Mini will drive sales even more.

Debating on getting this or waiting for the games on VC for Switch. It has to have FF III and Chrono Trigger for me to even consider it.

@emgesp: It would be very cool if the platform had a digital store available.

However, owning a platform doesn't immediately give you entitlement to games that it doesn't support. I understand that in name it's a SNES-Mini but the the games you get with the system are the only games you are entitled to. Ownership of a game is platform dependent. Now, granted this is something that I would love Nintendo to do away with in future. Sony has done a superb job supporting cross-buy between PS4 and Vita but even that is only on select games.

Essentially, just because I buy a game for one platform does not mean I buy it for every platform. This is the same as SNES Mini. You're only entitled to what ever games are available on that platform because those are the ones you bought. You're free to backup your old cartridges using ROM creation tools. This is just looking at it from an objective and legal standpoint, not my personal opinion.

I'll def. Take one. They'll def have to add more than 30 games. SNES was loaded, for shats n giggles, should include the Super Scope.

Looking for the following games: Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda, UN Squadron and WWF Royal Rumble, F-Zero, Super Contra, and etc....

Life is too short to worry about lame ass legalities. Nobody is getting sued for downloading some old ass roms. Nintendo gave up long ago.

I just bought Castlevania Dracula X for the Vita (PSP) but if the SNES classic came out with Rondo of Blood I would pre order it ASAP. Along with any other expensive SNES game.

I'm not advocating people hack their Wii Us/3DSs to try and get roms for free. Obviously, that is a different situation.

The SNES Mini is a unique case where Nintendo doesn't offer the ability to download more games to it, so really you can't steal what they aren't offering. Nintendo's VC offerings seem pretty lackluster anyways. There are so many great SNES games that will never see the light of day on VC.

I'm saying, since Nintendo doesn't give you an option to purchase more games then why limit yourself to only 30 games if you don't have to?

Also, quite interesting that the number of SNES titles available on the 3DS are exactly 30. This should give us a good idea of what to expect from the SNES Mini.

@emgesp: Well I suppose because that's not what you purchased. If the games are available to purchase elsewhere, then I suppose you'd need another platform to purchase them.

Looks great. Will sit nicely on my desk next to my NES mini. Will be hard for them to chose 30 games though.

Choosing 30 good games for the N64 mini will be harder though, not sure the good N64 games even ran into double figures!

The N64's great games definitely ran into the double figures, but the problem is that many of it's best games such as the games made by Rare and those amazing AKI wrestling games would be pretty much impossible to get licensed for it. But hopefully once it gets released, someone will find a way to hack it like they did the NES mini and then we will be able to add all of the N64 games that won't ever officially get licensed for it.

I look forward to the N64 mini the most since there is currently no great way to play N64 games on a modern TV. You can't get great picture quality playing on the original N64 hardware and N64 emulation is far from perfect and just doesn't feel the same.

The SNES VC offering from Nintendo for both the 3DS and Wii U are not that great. There are a lot of SNES games that Nintendo will never offer for purchase again, so how else are you gonna be able to play those games? The amount you would be technically stealing from Nintendo would be minimal compared to all the games they don't offer anywhere.

You want to play Turtles in Time legally? Well your SOL unless you get yourself a SNES console and used copy of Turtles in Time that on average sells for $50 on the second hand market. Money that Nintendo will never see btw.

Rare Replay's 30 games for X1 looks great on my 65" 1080P TV and really, Rare Replay is the way "N" would go about it making a "SNES Replay" that works with the NS but noooo, they're always trying to...

Bait & switch. :P

@emgesp: With certain games, it's a licencing issue but it reminds me of Earthbound for SNES. That game was never available in Europe until it reached the Wii U e-shop in 2013. The intellectual property owner decided to make it available for purchase and offered a price and store where it was purchasable.

So do you feel that it's okay to theoretically hack and extend the library of a potential Mini-SNES as long as they are not available to purchase on any system, or as long as they are not available to purchase on SNES-Mini?

You need to look up the ULTRA HDMI Mod.
