Poll Should only console gamers care about Dragon Age? (33 votes)

Yes PC gamers care not 30%
No, regardless of platform, everyone should care, deeply 58%
they have introduced a fully gay character like Pierce from Saints Row, but with worse writing and most likely pretentious 12%

My friends. Having recently played "Divinity: Origin Sin" roughly, 70 seconds ago, I sit and I ponder.

When Dragon Age: Origins was released, much of the excitement was for Bioware creating a CRPG in the vain of Baldurs Gate and similar DND titles.

Then, the dark days, Bioware sold more, EA marketing "advised" them and we had a hack and slash rushed game significantly dumbed down and clearly designed with console primarily in mind.

And now we are in the present, years on from Dragon Age. With promises of Dragon Age 3 being a merger of the two, learning from Dragon Age 2's mistake.

Since Dragon Age, we now have had kickstarter. A great deal of CRPG's, without EA's handle on them are either coming or in fruition.

At this point, since console gamers don't have DnD style RPG's and Dragon Age 3, will probably have an "illusion" of combat, should it only be people on console hardware, giving a shit?

For the amount of money put into this series I'm surprised how effing generic it is.

As much as I currently love Divinity: Original Sin... I am still looking foward to Dragon Age for its high production values, and cast of characters.... divinity... is very small scale in comparison. (but still amazing in a different way). and the witcher 3 ofcourse too.

Its good time for good quality variety in WRPGs/CRPGs .... its a shame... that the Japanese.... have not stepped up.

Sounds to me like they're trying to make the game more like Elder Scrolls which is the most popular non mmo rpg franchise on pc.

ES is only that popular because of the modding community though and I highly doubt Dragon Age 3 will be moddable.

Can you prove that Elder Scrolls wouldn't be popular on pc without mods?

A good indication to ascertaining this answer could lay in the download count.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/top/?

How does that prove anything? Are you implying that if consolites had access to Skyrim mods they would not download them?

Console people download them, yes.

That's dlc.

I say Skyrim would still out sell Witcher and any other rpg franchise on pc even without mods and there's no way to prove otherwise.

DA1 Ultimate Edition was serviceable, but they need to realize MMO combat is only fun WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING WITH OTHER PEOPLE!!!!! Even then it's arguable.

DA2 saw improved graphics and streamlined the combat somewhat but other than that was an abomination with running thru the same levels over again.

I'm not excited for DA3.

Don't get me wrong, I love DA's fluff and think it would make a great MMO.

Divinity has the kind of depth and complexity a console title such as Dragon Age: Inquistion can never hope to achieve.

I play on PC and consoles and I can't wait for Inquisition. I don't really give a shit about how "hardcore" elitists such as yourself think it is or isn't, and I don't care if it lacks depth of complexity. I play games to enjoy myself. If you want to play games to masturbate over their depth, go nuts. I'll be playing it and I'll be having fun. Don't like that and want to attempt to make a statement about people enjoying things that you don't? Tough titties.

Sold mod.

This is about free mods and whether or not it means the difference between Skyrim flopping on pc or being a huge success.

You link nexus but that doesn't prove that pc gamers only bought Skyrim because of mods.

You support my point in showing that consolites like to download more content also. If they download paid content they would download free content if it was available yet without any mods the game still sold very well on console.

DA1 didn't have MMO combat. Are you new to gaming?

It had the pretty much the same combat from Baldurs Gate, another isometric rpg.

The character control during combat is very similar to most mmo's though. Instead of directly controlling the character like in Witcher, ES, Gothic, Risen etc you're just issuing commands to the character.

ORLY?

I remember Warriors and Thiefs having activated stun abilities and toggleable passive abilities. Wizards pretty much ruled the roost with AOE spells and such. The only exception to the rule was you could pause time because you were only one person in charge of 4 people.

Just beat on something till it dies while it only reacts if you stun/curse/etc it. That's my impression of MMO combat. Am I wrong?

If I did that with all the posters that annoy me SW would have zero threads.
