Poll Should MS release first party games on gamepass day1 (56 votes)

Yes 70%
No 30%

So obviously I feel like day1 is a great thing and is making games more accessible for everyone. But I feel that MS is missing out on human behavior aspect. What if day1 gamepass is causing big studios to release lower quality releases? I mean, think about it, most humans are fucking lazy. If they can get a job at a cushy union, they would milk it for all its worth and do minimal effort. My fear is that gamepass has taken away that pressure and drive, for devs to thrive and push their best work. Gamepass feels like a socialist concept, it's causing devs to get soft. Maybe jim cryan has it right, and releasing games the traditional method is better in some cases. Not for the money point, but for greater creativity and effort. Diamonds are formed under pressure after all.

What's your thoughts, is gamepass making devs too soft? Should MS cancel day 1 and make it 1 year post launch, and the game must recover at least 75% of the budget from direct sales? Should uncle Phil bring out the whip and start thrashing these unions and soft workers??

I'm still waiting for these major first party exclusives to even release. Where is Perfect Dark, Forza, Hellblade 2, Starfield, among many other studios? These games were announced years ago and still have jack to show.

Both MS and Sony should release their first party games on their respective service on day 1. As a consumer, I would rather pay a monthly fee and have access to all their games as opposed to having to shell out $70 or wait for an eventual sale.

As a consumer, day 1 games on GP are a good thing.

Well... yeah.

and let's not pretend their offerings would be any different if they did not.

Not sure how I feel about it, if it means they'll produce better games if they don't, then no. But in 2022 Xbox Game Studios released jack shit as far as I remember. No Gears, No Halo, No Forza. Which is practically their bread and butter and I really don't harp on Xbox often.

But here is my take on it.

Let's say you subscribed to gamepass an entire year, you could have taken that money instead and put it towards GT7, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok and it would cost you about the same. Approximately.

Would you rather have 3 big AAA title releases or temporary access to several old games? I'd take the three listed titles, no offense.

@Sam3231: first of all, you picked 3 games on ps5 that nobody in their right mind would spend money on. There's better racing games on gamepass than gt7. Forgotten worst isn't worth spending all that money on and gow was probably the only decent game. The difference is gamepass might not have had any heavy hitters, there were hundreds of smaller titles released, AA and amazing indies. Would you take 10 good mid tier budget AA or AAA game over one big budget Sony AAA game? What about all the high quality indies releasing on gamepass? The wider selection, variety of games and frankly there's far more enjoyment than what you would get out of the token games Sony released.

Yep. MS started it so they have to commit to it now. If they stopped putting day one AAA releases on GP they need to give people who subbed to it their money back

It's a good deal for subscribers I usually dip in and out when something interests me.

Pfffftt, of course and Phony and Nintendont should be releasing their games Day mofo One on GP as well. ;o

Then we'd have a real, much needed, for the gamers, VG revolution. :P
