Nah, he's a likable dude. Problem is that it's obvious he has no real power and the folks with the real power at MS don't give a crap about Xbox or gaming. They only care that it's out there but they aren't really interested in gaming the same way Sony and Nintendo are.

They already did. They hired Phil Harrison from Sony - one of the guys behind the debacle of PS3 and wrong promises. So, I think they really don't care about Xbox.

Fill Sphincter is in over his head. Comments like we need a Horizon Zero Dawn or buying a one year exclusivity for Tomb Raider or releasing a mid-gen console with no exclusives to show off its capabilities are examples that he has no idea what he's doing.

Phil Spencer isn't the problem, It's Microsoft that is as he answers to them and their shareholders.

Phil spencer is doing his best to clear up the mess he came into. He is the right person to get the Xbox division back on track.

If Phil Spencer retired right now, I would say he was terrible. To sum up his tenure, all he is known for is making promises that never materialized. Trying to appease the Xbox fanboys on twitter, and congratulating the competition.

He also was behind the Tomb Raider time-exclusivity deal that was not well met with the public at large. He was the villain behind that one as well. He basically paid Square-Enix money so the game wouldn't be on other platforms, but at least PC version got the upper hand for releasing 2 months after the Xbox One version. It was funny because he did that to try and compete with the upcoming Uncharted 4 during that Holiday. It didn't work out anyway because UC4 got delayed until that next spring, lol.

Phil Spencer hasn't delivered much but BC. And the BC is just to ensure that Xbox One owners don't flock to the other systems. He tries to mold it to say it's for the gamers, but they are desperately just trying to keep people within their ecosystem and BC wasn't on MS mind at the start of this gen either.

I'd give him a D grade. Which means it can only go up, we'll see at this E3 2018.

There's no point in firing him now he has already killed the Xbox brand stone dead and is now attempting to do the same thing to devs by giving their games away for free on Game Pass.

I do think that they could get someone better than Phil to run the Xbox division though. I think that Phil is just too much of a nice guy for that job. They need somebody with more ruthless aggression. I would love to see Peter Moore return and take the job. He did a great job with the Dreamcast, the original Xbox, and the early years of the Xbox 360 before he left.

PlayStation and Xbox are already similar enough to each other, why do people want them to be even more similar.

It's a tough job trying to pick up all the crumbling pieces of the Xbox brand. I think we should judge Phil by how he handles the next Xbox console (if there is one).

I feel like he is only part of a bigger problem. XBox doesn't need to lose a figurehead, it needs to execute on software. If Spencer has learned from the hard lessons of the past like Scalebound, then he is the right man for the job. That line about losing a game being good for Xbox gamers was some fantastical bullshit, though.

He is the reason why X1 is an ok console, and not just a kinect machine. The brand is in good hands, in my opinion, they just need better first parties.
