@Pedro: That's the worst possible definition of a flop. SoT will get trashed by every single Sony troll out there .... As they do PUBG for example, yet it sold 5m copies. I'm expecting it to sell well, because it looks like a lot of fun but I'm not expecting the critics to give it more than an 8.

Cant wait till next week. Beta was severely limited yet people were playing for hours. Will be insane when everything is unleashed on Tuesday and then Rares plans for future content updates and events.

This game looks really fun to play with your friends, and I hope the Xbox One owners here enjoy it! ? I would say a minimum of a 7/10, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an 8/10 for Sea of Thieves.

It really is a lot of fun with communication and team coordination. That's the answer to those asking What is the draw to this? If you never experienced the fun of being on a team and trying to work together under pressure, then you wont get it. Play SP with your pee pee.

However, I say Tamoor goes with the old reliable 6/10 for X1 games at Gamespot.

An uncompleted game better suited as a beta test with PS2 era graphics on a real-4K machine is a pretty easy target tho

Sea of Thieves at least looks to be a polished and complete game.

Play it with people you know and it's a 9, play with rando's and you'll have a bad time. Going with an 8/10 on GS.

Pubg deserves it's criticism.

I hate to say it but it seems like a lot of the greatest always get trashed. They are hyped for about a year and then always followed by how crappy they were and they weren't really that good as everyone states. However, I am in no way comparing this to be one of those as I feel this game will be fun at first but will lose its appeal very quickly.

DX12 is struggling because a huge chunk of gamers are still on Windows 7, and lazy developers who aren't bothering to move to DX12 because they already understand DX11 very well by this point. Adoption takes time. Don't get me wrong, I thought by now DX12 would be more of a thing. I have seen very few games use it and not sure what the upcoming list is like. I have to imagine MS is none to happy about it

DX12 is great, but it's hardly the main reason I upgraded to Windows 10. Windows 10 is superior to Windows 7 in just about every way. It's faster, more stable, and applications are more accessible with more shortcuts right out of the bat. Windows 7 used to bluescreen on memory-heavy applications a few times a week. Windows 10 hasn't bluescreened since 2015.

Put me down for 7/10

I don't know what it will score and I don't care. Game is fun. I'm excited for launch.

@jaydan: I'm guessing you never had a PS2 then. Pubg is running in 4k at a pretty solid 30fps...still not perfect, but after 7 patches it's looking decent....but yes, hyperbole.

@sealionact: No need to pretend a "decent" looking game after 7 patches is anywhere visually impressive on a 4k machine. No need to defend what is an incomplete game better suited as a beta experience. It might be addicting and fun, but it hardly impresses the capabilities of the XB1X experience. It's kind of a joke of a game after all that power-hype Microsoft had been boasting and yet PUBG was the most impressive thing they had on their system last year.

As other people also stated, PUBG deserves its criticisms, and it's incomparable to what Sea of Thieves is shaping up to be.

@boycie: XP is very old, 7 isn't and a shitload of gamers still have it. MS is alienating a shitload of buyers. And it's not like a lot of people will buy W10 because of fucking Sea of Thieves.

Yeah, W10 was free. The excuse is that it was also shit when it was free. It seems ok now.

I didn't exclude myself from SoT by choice. SoT would have zero problems running on W7, but MS think they can force people to buy W10 if they want to play SoT. Maybe I would've got W10 when it was free if I knew I had to have it for a game I'd be interested in in a few years, but how the hell would I have known? But eh, no biggie. It's just one game. It's not like MS has anything else interesting you need W10 for.

And yes, MS is alienating all potential W7 SoT buyers who don't want W10. That's not a few people.

@jaydan: No need to tell me what my opinion should be... The graphics don't affect my experience of the game. It's a simple concept, and it's that concept that appeals to players...not mind-blowing graphics. Some of my favourite games have simpler graphics such as Ori or Cuphead.

X1x is capable of displaying much better graphics than either of those games, but the point is .... They don't need better graphics, they remain great games.

You do know that pubg IS in beta on Xbox? It's pretty much plastered all over the title screen.

They make sure that people who only has W7 can't play their game. That's alienating possible customers who has W7. Not sure what you're definition of alienate is, but that's mine. Not 100% sure "alienate" is the right word though, since english isn't my main language, but I think it's correct..

Nah, that's where it gets a bit silly. I'm thinking that they should at least still support the OS that came before the current one. Like they have in the past pretty much. I think waaaaay more gamers have W7 right now than gamers have XP. And a lot of W7 owners are gamers who'd be interested in SoT.

I think MS loose way more money from potential SoT W7-owning buyers than they earn money by forcing people who want SoT to buy W10..

Windows 8 was the previous version to Windows 10. So 7 is pretty much legacy now.

Let's just say I'm a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean movies and this game will give me that Caribbean movie feel going for, for a Pirate game that is :)

That all sounds pretty fantastic actually. Especially the fortresses.
Reminds me of WoW's Gurubashi Arena where you would battle other players for the loot that showed up at specific times.

Ironically, Stranglethorn Vale also had a pirate theme. Man, the nostalgia.

LOL at PUBG deserves its criticism. I agree that it does, but it deserves its success also. The fact remains millions of people are having a great time playing the game whether the 'know it alls' here like it or not.

Yeah man, I can't comment too much on what all there is to do in SoT since I never played in the betas but I'm betting that folks saying there's not going to be a lot to do and it'll get boring fast are dead wrong.

Yeah if the Pixar artists were all drunk before they started and briefed to make the game look like it should have come out on the 360. The game is ugly dude. Even boosting the res with those low res textures is the classic equivalent of turd polishing.
