Secret of Mana Remake announce and coming to PS4/PS Vita/PC next year!!!

Yep, that's right, another great JRPG coming next year from the news of Polygon: Secret of Mana remake will hit next year announce by Square Enix. Surprising enough, no news on a Nintendo Switch. Well in any case, I'll get the remake on PC, the more JRPG get's PC support, the better for more future JRPG games becoming a hit on PC.

Yes. Been calling it for 10 years!!! Hopefully they can bring Seiken Densetsu 3 AKA Secret of Mana 2 and Chrono Trigger as well.

Huh just watched the video and WTF? They should have simply redrawn HD 2D sprites. They got full 3D models now. The mechanics are gonna be so different it may as well be a different game with the same storyline. Knowing Square I know they're gonna **** up.

I really hope that this turns out well because I loved the SNES game.

Adding to my post, i'm not a big fan of the designs. Like Juub says below, some hand-drawn high-quality sprites would have been amazing.

@davillain-: Kind of strange that they didn't make a Switch version, don't you think? PSVita is a dead platform world-wide and Japan wants the Switch.

I can only imagine that SE made a deal with Sony (timed or otherwise) aside from having it on Steam. The fact that it's on Vita makes me think it's a Vita designed game that gets upscaled to console/PC would be my best guess. Like Ant_17 said, it'll also be on SNES Classic as seen from the pic.

Let's not forget the Switch gets the Mana trilogy at the very least.

At this point, I highly doubt it since Xbox One as of now is scaring off JRPG all together and giving the fact that many are crying out why there's no Switch version then less for an Xbox One version, we can only assume SE has a secret deal in the making besides the PC version.

I really do hope Secret of Mana remake finds it's way to both Xbox One & Switch someday. No one shouldn't miss out the best JRPG game.

Anywho, I absolutely adore Secret of Mana. One of the few games that I played to get all characters to level 99. I actually have mixed feelings about this remake, though. For one, I would have preferred them to use enhanced sprites, and not this 3D look like they have going on. And it just infuriates me that it isn't coming out on Switch! Oh well, there is the Vita, so I'll get it for that. RPGs for me are best on portables, so I can take them to work and play them on breaks.

Too bad game isn't coming to Xbone. Would buy XboneX because that game.

This is a halfway house. You can either release it in its original entirety or with new aesthetics but this? What the hell is this? I've seen it on steam and it doesn't look good. For £29.99 make it look new.

Great news! Secret of Mana is one of my favourite games of all time.

However, I'd prefer they went with HD sprites instead of 3D. And not sure if Squenix can do justice to a remake. But I'm still looking forward to it regardless.

Looks extremely low budget and weaboo. I would rather play the snes version than that.

SoM is in my top 20 games ever made easy, maybe my top 10. I hope they don't eff it up.

Well have I got good news for you. Secret of Mana will also be on SNES Classic Mini (not this remake) so if you wanna play that version, buy SNES Classic this September.

Like I said above, it's probably SE deal for Sony for a port on Vita/PS4 but at lease SoM Collection is coming to Switch however.

Ooooh, I'd take Switch version if I had my druthers. My days of playing through this game over and over was for SNES, so that would feel like home <3 I bought it off Google Play for my phone but I never play it I hate phone gaming.

@superbuuman: yeah, Japan only right now. Don't know if they will release it outside, but hopefully they will. If they are, I'm guessing the reason that its not released earlier is due to having to translate Seiken Densetsu 3 and maybe re-translate the first 2 games also

One thing I'm hoping for from the remake is that it includes all the content that was removed from the original game. Secret of Mana was originally created for the Sony "PlayStation" CD add-on for the SNES, but after it fell through and the Sony-Nintendo relationship turned sour, much of the content in Secret of Mana had to be cut to fit on a SNES cartridge. If they could bring all that cut content into the remake, then it will be well worth it.
