Sea of Thieves 540p 15fps locked

Yes, this is real. On PC, Sea of Thieves can be set to run at 540p 15fps locked. I might be able to run this on my laptop after all! Lol... How do you feel about this SW? How could you possibly compete against someone playing at 4k 144hz?

Because the devs are straight up idiots really.

Some people trolled them and asked for a 15 fps lock, and they spend time to actaully do that. Instead of spending that time on actually something usefuls. If you wan to lock it at 15 fps on pc, you could already do that anyway if you really wanted it.

Waste of time, utterly pointless.

I don't think my PC could run it even at those settings.

@brandshatch: I've just seen videos so I might be wrong but the collaborative gameplay seems too chaotic, specially during battles. Also the game seems awfully repetitive, the same type of missions over and over. The people I've seen playing on videos didn't seem to be having so much fun, most of the time they looked confused and trying too hard to look as if they were having a blast.

You mean doing something that probably required a single person to spend a few minutes (if that) implementing? Yup, I'm sure those few minutes really were crucial to the project as a whole. Shit people complain about anything these days.

You know it would have taken almost no time and very little effort to create a menu option that limits the game to a certain resolution and framerate.

This is bottom of the barrel preemptive damage control at it's worse.

Great idea. Better to let users with old/weak PCs decide for themselves if it's looking or running good enough than artifically locking them out.

The GS article from TC posted was basically last month. I remember that article and I posted my comment as well (20 days later as it says so) and yep, someone posted this news already but then again, doesn't hurt to make a new thread then bumping old threads right?

I think that it's kind of cool that they are making it so those with very low hardware can play the game. Should be interesting to see how many more people might play this because of the very low spec minimum.

The problem I have with this statement is that if they know that it's running 15fps, then they can't possibly want that. If they know what FPS is they'd care! But I do understand not everyone cares that much about framerates but this is mainly PC version were talking about, there's no way someone could possibly say 15fps is okay, even in this day & age!

Edit: Knowing console gamers, they wouldn't even care about framerates anyways, not even 60fps.

I think it's a nice idea to give lower end PCs this option. Personally, I'll be played the game at max settings. I think it looks like good fun. :)

@SecretPolice: I know you probably misinterpreted my point. This is only on PC... The place frame rate is God. It was a knock at the "Master race" PC gamers that constantly talk trash about any game less than 60fps, and say it's unplayable. You gotta admit though, that 15fps is kinda funny(and that res). This isn't even a graphically demanding game! Which means it should run on any PC within the last decade(which I don't have a problem with, just think it's funny). So, no, this isn't a MS/ and obviously not Xbox(has nothing to do with xbox) thread. It's a poke at those few annoying PC gamers that think anything under 60fps is unplayable junk.

Might as well Launch this on the Switch too if MS's going that route. It's not like SOT is going to move consoles anyway. Might as well build up a bigger on line community by including the Switch.

15fps is downright unplayable. They probably added it as a joke. Also, nice sensationalist title.

The X1 has a GPU equivilent of a 7790 and Rare is targeting 30FPS 1920x1080... Even a entry level gaming PC from the last 3 years can out perform it e.g i3/750Ti build.

There's not much need for it but never the less the more optimisation and focus on performance the developer puts in the better for everyone.

You realize how easy that is to implement? It could be done in like 5 minutes by any developer as long as they are confident their game logic can run smoothly at 15 hz. Which, if it was designed to do that from the onset, it probably can.
