12 years ago we got this meme. now we have 2 Doom games that crap all over modern (now ancient) mil FPS.

now we have both kind of FPSs.

Still going to be bad because its battlefield regardless of next gen or not. STALKER 2 will crap all over it LOL!!.

No infinite health Regen.

No linear corridors.

Countless Easter eggs. (And some of the best...like the megaladon).

Fast gameplay with little cover in most places.

No checkpoints.

Next gen is PS6 and Xbox Series 2. We are in current gen, fool.

Games have always been good and bad independent of the time.

I am expecting them to finally push what's possible, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was no last gen versions.

Doom is a singleplayer game.

Battlefield is a multiplayer game.

Anyway, I started replaying Rising Storm 2. Call me when Battlefield has a Vietnam setting.

@davillain-: yeah and it'll include Battle Royale again. They took Criterion off Need For Speed so they can once again help out DICE.

It'll still focus on the normal Conquest modes, fo sure. But why does every FPS need to be Battle Royale these days? 😥

Population seems to have remained steady over the past year. Between 1k-2k players.

are servers actually playing a variety of map? I remember stopping because it felt like the only populated servers were either Resort or Hue City 24/7

Oh definitely, that was my main gripe with the game as well. It was always Cu Chi or Hue City...

There are actually a ton of official maps now. Best thing to do is stick with the Campaign servers, that way a ton of stuff gets rotated in matches: both the maps and which armies play on them.

The next BF has always been new-gen only. Not sure why they would say it is a rumour as this is well known. Also, OP is ridiculous as always.

I hope it's true be this is EA we are talking about but I lost interest in this series last one I played was BF1 but it played to much like COD.I miss when BF had no regenerating health or grenade indicators and was slower place and didn't have infinite sprint wish this series would go back to it's roots but it will never happen.

Then play insurgency if you want slow, tactical not regen health Multiplayer game.

Battlefield always been arcade shooter. they just become even more arcady after 3 but still.

I actually want to believe this rumor.. mostly because I hope it's true, but I very seriously doubt it will be. Other more prevalent rumors say that 3-5 companies have been working on the game for over 6 years and it's supposed to be the largest shooting game content wise of all time at launch with 8 to 128 players meaning there will almost definitely be one life game modes and the largest maps ever in BF. I'm really likening a lot of what I'm hearing. Built in clan system with built in tournaments, small squads and large platoon type gameplay, they say it takes place in the present to 20 years in the future and it feels mostly like BF4. Sign me up if most of that is true.

I would hope it is next gen, seeing as how we are currently a few months into it.

BTW, when does "next gen" stop being next gen and become current gen?

Battlefield hasn't been good since Bad Company 2.

It had the best balance IMO of map size and player count. I do think there's something not quite right of 64 player map size games. I am also a bigger fan of offensive and defensive modes and these games still make themselves very conquest focused, and I am not really a fan.

As someone who was around to buy those 3.5" floppies of Doom and Wolfenstein when they were "new", I can say that I am much happier with regenerative health.

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam. :P It was a pretty good expansion, actually.

Battlefield 2 is a true PC classic shame Dice sold out by turning the series into COD.

Yup, it was a great expansion and had a ton of content for its price.

I didn't like that it was 32 players instead of 64 but oh well, not a huge deal. Still enjoyed it a ton!

There was this map with a mountain you had to push up that was on fire, great stuff!

Yeah, also BFBC2 played like a complete console shooter. Guns had no recoil, you could only sprint straight and couldn't strafe while sprinting, tanks were extremely easy to drive and just destroy everything with. Just wasn't a great engine or setup compared to the PC centric Battlefields.

Yeah, Battlefield 3 felt a lot more PC centric.

But I tried to get into Battlefield: Bad Company on consoles, so I was jsut glad that Bad Company 2 was at least on PC.

As it's always a shame to see a PC series or a FPS series go console exclusive.

Still I had a ton of fun with Bad Company 2 and I think Vietnam was its high point.

Man, I just dig these historical settings in Battlefield games. I've been playing since the first and I think BF 1 was my most played one. BF V wasn't bad... but also suffered from some truly bad direction, where they kept pissing off the core playerbase.

Stop being such a graphics whore and play DUSK on Intruder Mode and Amid Evil on warrior mode if you want some recent FPS with actual old school design principles.

Im fine with Doom and Eternal, and Shadow warrior 3 is around corner.

come on my friend. this is 2021. If I want to play game with ancient graphics. I can play those on my phones. Why bother playing it on my PC?

LOL good graphics are casual and bad graphics are soo hardcore. thats new to me.

Actually it was indicated that there will be a ps4/x1 version, however it’ll be extremely gimped compared to current gen, to the point where a separate, smaller team will be handling it.

For some reason I felt that Bad Company was the console battlefield, and the mainstream was for PC.

I've heard no mention of a last gen version. DICE is focused on pushing the envelope with the game and making the most of the new hardware.

You seem to be pretty hung up on graphical fidelity. I appreciate and value other things a lot more like gameplay, level & mission/quest design, mechanics & systems, artstyle, ect...

Prey is deepest game of past gen a true system shock successor although it has pretty ok graphics not best and i can handle but i cant handle ancient looking games released in 2021.

Wish they make Bad Company 3 next, 1 and 2 were epic awesome :(

For real. Bad Company 1 was the first DICE game that ran on the Frostbite engine (which is still being used today).

I was of course impressed by its destructability... But it played like a console shooter first and foremost.

There's another rumour that it's going suck, and make you miss the times you had with Battlefield 2, 2142 and Bad Company 2.
