Rumors: Half life 2 remastered on its way

Remastereing or Remaking one of the best game of all time in next gen. way to go.

plus lets hope after that we will get proper Half life 3 instead of VR crap.

@Sevenizz: Big deal. It has nothing to do with Valve so good luck with publishing/distribution/testing.

Having tried modded Halflife 2 in VR, the vehicle sections were a huge problem.

Very use to VR, can happily play faster titles like Quake 2 or Ultimate Doom, but those vehicle sections were almost instantly vomit inducting.

Hopefully Valve can use their big hive-brain to fix this.

Technically speaking as well, Halflife 2 has been upgraded throughout the years. They just didn't charge you $60 for it.

It need to be upgraded to source engine 2.

if its remake/remastered on source 2. then its fine.

@ghosts4ever: Halflife 2 doesn't really need a remaster beyond native VR ingratiating, as (Source) attempts through Garrys Mode are dire.

MS already did this for X1X owners, 4K 60 fps and it's free. Eh, for some if you're not paying for a remaster it just takes all the fun out of it. lol :P

Black Mesa would be far more suited for VR, but the dev's themselves said it was pretty much an impossible task without building a game night from scratch.

Does it need a remaster? I played it two weeks ago, still feels good, looks good, sounds good...it's a classic, timeless game for a reason.

Could definitely tweak the difficulty. Halflife 2 is generally known as a ridiculously easy game.

If they done something like a NG+ without the roughness modders typically apply, def to be a go-go.

Not trying to shit on it (though it goes have it's misguided detractors) but it generally should have been more challenging than it is with hard actually like... hard.

Long running problem Valve refuse to address as they play-test and refine it for average joe as opposed to someone experienced.

Yeah.... most probably not gonna happen.

One scenario that has some logical sense though, is a Valve-made Orange Box-like Half-Life 3 release, with a remastered Half-Life 2.

But... Valve never makes remasters. What they could do, is what @uninspiredcup said, a some kind of a VR support for Half-Life 2. Or, a complete Half-Life 2 remake for VR.

Just play it on pc with mods at 4k....free remaster. 👍
