Rumored: Red Dead Redemption 1 Remake is in development. aimed for 2020

A new rumor has surfaced claiming that Rockstar Games is currently working on a remake of Red Dead Redemption that will release sometime in late 2020 or early 2021, which presumably suggests it's in development for both PS4 and PS5 and both Xbox One and Xbox Scarlett, and maybe PC as well.

they are making sequel to RDR2 which is RDR1 but in new engine.

RDR on Mighty X1X MonsterBox is a Free remake. Thank you MS, for the gamers.... Jazz. :P

They couldn't be bothered to port this to PC, but they will port it to next gen consoles.

Nice to see where Rockstar's priorities lie.

This is more than fine by me. I still love the first game and would love an overhaul with the new graphics. I can't imagine its as much work as number 2 as they already made half of the map and many of the characters,

They should make a fun game instead.

No way it's a remake. Too much time and money goes into that for Rockstar. It'll be a quick cash grab remaster to keep investors happy.

After replaying it on the X I really don't feel the need to buy it again.

Remaking Red Dead Redemption - why though? It's not like the game aged poorly that it needs to be remade. Seems pretty pointless, in my opinion.

I think I'd have to go for a Manhunt remake over Max Payne even. And that's saying ALOT. as I love the 1st Max Payne.

They wouldn't even do a Manhunt remake with modern graphics though. Would be too brutal.

I find this hard to believe... I don't see the point. I mean you can play it right now on XB1 in 4k.

I'm sure they'll release RDR1 remake and RDR2 on PC once the remake is done. Seems likely.

This rumor is not true. There are a couple of trolls who are "leaking" these rumors. I think this has been going on since last year.

The worst part is these "journalists" are taking the bait and in turn, providing false information to the public.

They found out players will double dip and effectively give them twice the moolah. Lol

Rockstar is all about greed, tbh.

They won't just port, however. They typically will add a bunch of fluff like first person view to justify the expense for double dipping. They know gamers will buy it again if it's the new upgraded version.

some games (most games) should just be left in the past.

not this one however. i'd take a remake of it over any of their back catalogue. but do we hear any dubious manhunt is being remade rumours from anonymous sources reported through no mark publications? nope. of course not. life is so unfair

I'm assuming you never played them during they're time. You can't really judge it because you're mostly likely basing it on current trends. I have San Andreas on PS4 and the combat mechanics are outdated.

That's only 1 game. PS2 had GTA 3,Vice City, San Andreas Bully and the Warriors.

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind a prequel to the prequel?

@PSP107: I dont know what current trends I'd be basing them on. I didnt like Red Dead Redemption either (I beat that one though). I mostly play older games so I'm not spoiled by modern glasses. I just found the gameplay clunky and the missions dull. I recall a mission in SA where I had to slowly walk through a mans house puck up a box and slowly take it out 3 times. Even back in 2004 I couldn't imagine finding that fun.

Of all the bullshit rumours we get on here that turn out to be true, this, THIS is the one that's false. I want this game on PC. Is that too much to ask? I have it on PS3, and I don't like digging that out every time I want a game.

This game feels like it would never be released on PC despite all the rumors.
