Didn't play the 1st one yet even though I have had it in my Steam library for months. So, not a big loss if it's true. I am tired of third person shooters anyway.

Was excited to see it added to the BC list yesterday, was inclined to get it but thought I better wait to see if added to GwG in coming months or Game Pass.

First Bayonetta and now Vanquish. Nice. Whoever wants to pay to keep these franchises going deserves the exclusivity. Glad I own an Xbox. It's my fav system right now.

Would prefer a multiplat release, but it's cool if that's what it took to get a sequel greenlit. This game deserves to be a franchise.

I would normally agree, but given that Platinum's IP have a niche, it's no surprise that they want to try a "Bayonetta" trick if true. If it was for more popular IP's like Soul (SoulCalibur II was multiplat, III was PS2 exclusive), Resident Evil (RE4 started as a GC exclusive), and Tomb Raider (Rise of the Tomb Raider starting as an XBONE exclusive), then I'd agree more, but it's a Platinum game.

Granted, this is also a Japanese IP on an XBOX console and being exclusive... yeah, this won't go well.

If true, MS is gonna pull a Bayo 2 on us since this is Platinum Games were talking about. And speaking of Platinum. Pretty hard to believe that Platinum would do with anything MS after that Scalebound fiasco.

Not gonna happen but if it ever did it would flop hard. Making sequels exclusives when their first games were multiplat is an insanely stupid business decision especially when they are Japanese games in MS’ case.

I also don’t believe Platinum Games will ever work on an MS exclusive again after the disaster that was Failbound.

Sounds like something dumb enough to be true tbh. It would probably turn out to be the best exclusive on the console and sell under 500k because we all know there is no audience for games like this on Xbox.

I don't care if it is Xbox exclusive as long as the game actually comes out. Microsoft has a way of cancelling projects like this.

@kuu2: There’s a difference between making your own exclusive and outright buying a multiplat and trying to make it exclusive. MS does the latter and that’s why they fail and get so much hate.

Why is it so hard for MS to actually make good exclusives with their existing studios or buy out struggling studios and make them make good exclusives? It’s like the people that run MS gaming division are as dumb as their fanboys. They keep trying to shortcut their way to success and they keep failing hard every time. You can’t shortcut your way into having good exclusives, you need to create them from scratch and cultivate them into being successful just like how Sony and Nintendo do.

Thats precisely the point. If their fanbase is already niche then splitting it doesnt do them any good, especially when alienating the fanbase that gave them the most sales wich is the PS fanbase. Both Bayonetta and Vanquish sold better on PS3 and we now know Nier: Automata is their biggest success story yet.

Didn't MS and Platinum just messily abort an expensive long-term exclusive project? MS lost their financial investment, lost face, and lost potential sales; Platinum lost enormous development time and potential sales. That couldn't have been an easy situation for either party. This seems... very unlikely.

@UssjTrunks: Bullshit. Plenty of good games have flopped throughout history especially on Xbox. Even more so when it comes to Japanese exclusives on Xbox. I can’t think of a single successful Japanese Xbox exclusive releaseed n the past 10 years.

I have a hard time coming up with more than a handful of good Japanese games (other than Nintendo exclusives) that released in the past 10 years on any console. Japanese games tend to have a limited audience due to the genre (usually JRPG), art style (anime), and generally uninspired gameplay.

? Yea let’s pretend that games like Nier Automata, Nioh, Yakuza 0, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Gravity Rush 1 & 2, etc. are bad because they didn’t release on Xbox and you’re losing an internet argument.

I heard this is a similar situation to how Sony made SF5 a console exclusive, that the only reason it would be exclusive is because Microsoft is helping fund it, otherwise the game would never get made which is similar to the SF5 scenario. SF5 is even higher profile than Vanquish will ever be, and Capcom will never see a dime from any Xbox users because they decided to accept a business deal where it would be a console exclusive forever. But the game would not have existed without Sony, apparently, so I can understand the business decision no matter how unfortunate it is.

Personally I don't care either way, I would rather Vanquish be multiplatform so more people can enjoy it and to avoid more hatred from communities about their business decisions, but I certainly do not think Microsoft are at fault here especially if they are helping with the funding. It's a business decision SEGA has to make basically, but right now it's rumors anyways. I'm definitely enjoying the first game on the X, holds up nicely today and the gameplay is smooth.

Interesting, never played the first one but with MS possibly behind it, hopefully see some co-op/multiplayer. These action games i like a lot. MS could def. Be a big help with assisting Japanese Devs with co-op/multiplayer.
