i like the specs and the resolution that is impossible to see. I think the release date is wrong though, if this was real i think they would announce it this E3.. 2014 2015 maybe.
Some of those things sound pretty crazy.
The whole no-used games sound kind of exaggerated and not following with what Sony has been doing with their hardware lately.
Though everybody is sticking to the X86 processor instead of a cell. That rumor must have some merit.

Yay!For another exaggeration.
Lol, looked long when I was reading it, but my text is giant sized - if that's what you meant.maybe Sony has a line of 2160p tvs that are coming out, doubt it, how could you even see that resolution? unless you wanna spend 50000 on a display that is a prototype?
PS4 is a go locked and loaded. Strap one on, going to be a wild muther fuking ride. Instant day 1 buy. Heil68
SONY DOMINATION CONTINUATION
Playstation Vita and Playstation Orbit doesn't sound THAT bad. I personally think it's time to move away from the standard PS# name.Such a dumb codename. Why are console codenames always so stupid?

It's not orbit though, it's orbis. Sounds like testis.
You better prepare your finger then.If they are going to tie games to accounts they better lower the price of new games or I'm giving them the finger.

Your right, my mistake. Orbis sounds kind of dumb..[QUOTE="JLF1MarkII"]This will happen most likely next genNo used option, no buy.

Here I come Steam.
I never put much into rumors, but we'll see if we see anything at E3 in a few months.
"Don't think you can simply buy the disc and stay offline, though; like many PC games these days, you'll need to have a PSN account and be online to even get the thing started."
...not going to happen, more than half the console purchases are users that either don't take their machine online, or don't even have online. This is way too convoluted and just simply not going to happen, much like the 720 rumors. Too many people don't take their consoles online. XBL has over 30 million users, but they have sold 60+ million consoles. Same kind of figures for PS3 vs. PSN, far more PS3 owners in the world that are not online, vs. PSN accounts.
This is also one of the reasons why in SW tabulate PSN, XBLA, and WiiWare in their own catagories, although we don't do that to PC (much to the chagrin of many a System Warrior). This piece was written by Luke Plunkett, that guy has a really spotty history, and combined with this rumor, I wouldn't even think twice about anything I read in this piece. It reads like PS4 rumors we read in the past, with added pizzaz to get hits for Kotaku.
Proof I've been in SW too long, I remember when this was a HOT TOPIC :
PS3 won't play used games 2005 rumor, LOL (news at Joystiq, ohnoes!).
get over it, they're just names. Your perspective is silly, I bet you care about looks too, right?Such a dumb codename. Why are console codenames always so stupid?

According to Sony they aren't even going to show it.
The rumors are all over the place with the PS4 just like they were with the PS3. Who knows what's going to happen.

I bet you're ugly.
I know they want to give away as little as humanly possible, like when the "Tank" was being developed, the codename "Tank" was chosen to sound as boring as possible so that any spies would simply skip over any documents with such a boring title and go over to the "Pulse Ion Cannon" documents.Such a dumb codename. Why are console codenames always so stupid?
waltefmoney
4K Res? Why in hell would they do that? The current consoles can't run 1080p games that well, so if you bump everything to 4K, the polygon counts won't be able to increase by that much. Plus, 4K TVs are still a ways off

In that case they should have codenamed it "console"
4K res, like PS3 was supposed to have 1080p resolution ?
That means one game in the million will be 4K, a few 1080p and all the rest sub HD

hockeyruler12
they dont even have 1440p in production right now, that part of the rumor is curious to me, although everything else kinda makes sense.
Or they are all just 1080p. I really doubt they'll be *sub HD*.4K res, like PS3 was supposed to have 1080p resolution ?

Nope, fairly good looking. I just dislike egotistical materialistic and predictable people. Something you can work on. Cause THATS what's REALLY ugly. you'll be right ;)No chance for 4K in games unless we're talking upscaled PS3 games (milk the cows with PS3 "true HD" remakes :P ).

Bro, there's no way you can troll me.
It'll be for movies, HDMI already supports 4K res, projectors are outputting it, and Sony as always will be pushing 4K much like they did with Blu Ray and 3D.No chance for 4K in games unless we're talking upscaled PS3 games (milk the cows with PS3 "true HD" remakes :P ).

[QUOTE="loosingENDS"]Or they are all just 1080p. I really doubt they'll be *sub HD*. Seeing as most HD TV's are "HD READY"(720) I can see developers making games for the next consoles at 1366x768. 20:1 HD TV's are running at 720p in the UK. Its like assuming that the majority of PC gamers have monitors that support 2560x1600. Majority are on 20-22 inch monitors. We will see a push on 1080p and 3D next gen nothing more but you will see a bunch of sub HD games.4K res, like PS3 was supposed to have 1080p resolution ?

4k how much will it cost? 1200$? how much will a 4ktv cost 5000$? Why is sony pushing 4k when most channels are still in 480i?

Grey_Eyed_Elf
I don't think the 4K part is meant to imply that games will be in 4K res. Just that the GPU is capable of it.
I'm assuming at most games will be 1080p next gen.

I know it's latin, that's why I said it sounds like testis which is also latin and would make one hell of a codename.
