Rumor: Demon's Souls 2 to be Announced November 15?!

I personally cant possibly have enough of such titles and that one would sell PS4 like hot cakes, while Dark Souls 2 is not even on PS4

For Sony and PS4 sure makes a huge lot of sense

IIRC, Demon's Souls didn't even manage to sell a million copies, while Dark Souls sold ~2 million across all platforms.

Nope, I just can't find the time for a game that might as well last around a 100 hours.

Also, when I'm investing that much time into a game, I don't want for it to be a technical mess, so consoles are out of question.

Well Playstation 4 needs all the games it can get. It is severely lacking.

The Wii-u is the only system with games, but ironically will be forgotten because of those games.

demon's souls sold well over a million units, same with dark souls on the ps3. dark souls didn't even break a million on the 360.

this series definitely has an audience on the playstation platform. i can see every reason why they would release a sequel to demon's souls on the ps4.

You see, games were exactly like that 20 years ago. So either you're implying that the ancestral nature of gaming itself is broken, or you weren't around to even know that.

I actually liked demon souls more than dark so this is good news for me.

Not from an IP perspective. Don't forget that the Demon's Souls IP is owned by Sony. Dark Souls was intentionally named such and called a 'spiritual successor' rather than a straight up sequel presumably to not infringe on Sony's Demon's Souls trademark. That's the only way they could have made it multiplat.

Now if this news were true, that would mean Demon's Souls 2 would be a Sony exclusive, and Souls fans will have no choice but to buy a PS4 if they didn't already plan on that.

@ jhcho2 my two year old baby hands couldn't grip the joysticks. Besides back then crappy design had the excuse of not having good technology. Today D Souls has got diddly squat. Atleast thats what I's be thinkins.

Demon's is a great agme but mechanically Dark Souls improved on it in almost every single way. The only thing that might be better for some is the hub world system (though I love the open world style of Dark more) and world tendencies

While the console fanboyism part is very likely to be true, Demon's Souls does have a few things better than Dark Souls. Demon's Souls was more claustrophobic and had creepier atmosphere. The atmosphere at Tower of Latria was unmatched. The Mind Flayers ripped out straight from the D&D universe (Illithids) made it even more memorable. The Valley of Defilement had a better sense of despair and hopelessness compared to Blight Town. I also preferred Boletaria compared to Undead Burg.

All in all, I think Dark Souls is a far better game than Demon's Souls. However, Demon's Souls had better atmosphere. I think the hub world system contributed to that. It allowed for the creation of totally disconnected worlds, and enabled each of them to excel in the atmosphere they were meant to present, whereas in Dark Souls, every area was relatively near to each other, and the devs had geography and context of lore to deal with. It's not a bad thing though. Just pros and cons.

Agreed, I think the announcement is Dark Souls 2 on PS4.

Despite the appreciation coming from the "core" audiences, Souls games still don't resonate strongly with the mainstream audience.

I loved Demon's Souls. I just couldn't seem to get into Dark Souls. So.... if this was on PS4 I would be insanely excited.

Why would the dev make the same game twice? Demon Souls 2 is Dark Souls.

Same game twice? WTF? Every sequel is the same game now? BTW Dark Souls 2 has no plans to go to next gen consoles and even if it did, it would be a last gen port (pointless) AND who's to say they even have a Dark Souls 3 in the works for when part 2 is done?

Sony owns the Demon's Souls IP. They probably want to jump start the series on PS4 and they don't have to have From Software develop it although it would probably be a joint effort just like the first game.

Sony is ready to drop megatons and there is nothing MS can do about it but watch as their console keeps getting destroyed and mocked.

More Souls games is always a good thing. And if Demon's Souls 2 is a true thing, then let it be made by Hidetaka Miyazaki. That would be the shiiitz.

Dark Souls 2 and Demon Souls 2 in gameplay were very similar.. if anything the same.. however on builds mechanics they were different.... I like the weapon system on Demons Souls a lot more than the one on Dark Souls. But the one thing that fails at both games is Bows... :( which is something i wanna see working...

Demon Souls was a good game, but there's a reason why they're pressing on with the Dark Souls brand. It's the better product.

Not sure about Demon's Souls 2 but a new IP from From Software would be awesome.
