Awesome game BTW
Happy 15th Resident Evil 4, a truly awesome game. I’ve played it on the GameCube, PS2, 360, Wii, and Xbox One. I’d really love to see them do a remake of this game next after the upcoming RE3 Remake.
One of the most overrated game of all time. RE7 absolutely blow RE4 out of water. even RE2 remake is better.

I'd buy it again.
Day one purchase confirmed. 😅
Still waiting for the HD project to be completed before I revisit it. It's getting there.

One of my favourite games.
The Merchant was a classic...
"Hey stranger"
"Over here stranger"
"Got something that might interest you stranger"
@jg4xchamp: Doom 3 was better horror game than all RE combine.
Did you play that on easy, or was quick save enough of a crutch for you?
on nightmare, it blow RE series out of water its so atmospheric and tension driven game. unlike RE4, it still aged well.
Resident Evil 4 is still an incredible game to this day. The first time I played it was on the Playstation 2. I was first blown away when I saw the video previews of the game but it was sadly on the Gamecube only originally so I was a little disappointed that I couldn't play it since I never owned a Gamecube but I was happy when Capcom brought over to the PS2. The best version for me is on the PC.
4 is the only RE I never played at all I might pick it up at some point. I didn't really enjoy the series after code Veronica.
I remember this being the game I bought a gamecube with.
I always wanted a gamecube, it just took me a while to buy one.
I bought mine with Double Dash and Resident Evil 4, was so thrilled!
Best version is PC version, duh.
But the most special version to me is the GC version. It was first and awesome. I completed that version four times, and 100%ed mercenaries mode with all characters.
Even PC has 2 versions right?

Yeah, first PC port was released 2007 and sucked. It was based on the PS2 version instead of GC version making the graphics much worse, and had no mouse support.
The one I have on Steam is called Ultimate HD Edition and was released 2014. Game still looks like oatmeal by today's standards, but it's a good port.
Btw, nice start with the GC there. DD is probably my favorite Mario Kart ever. Bought mine with Wind Waker and Metroid Prime and my mind was blown. Later when RE4 released, mind blew again.
@enzyme36: If only they could speed things up. Chapter 3 is done now, it seems. After 5 years.
Don't get me wrong, this is awesome work. But still. Zzz
haha yep... I played this what feels like years ago now when only the pueblo was done. Still with even just the object, case, gun and character texture updates throughout the game, its a better version than the others.
Hopefully they can finish before Capcom releases the remake lol

Yep, same here played it on PS2 first on launch day loved the hell out of it and then got the Steam HD version in 2014 which is the best version like you said.
@me2002:
GameCube original, wii colors are different and slightly off and they had changed to the stats.
I first played the ps2 back in 2005 because I asked for it for Christmas ( I was so happy when it was ported to ps2).
However years later I played the GameCube version and it looked like a next gen game... I love Ada but separate ways is not the best thing ever. The armor suit Ashley breaks the game and Leon’s outfit looks goofy.
Gamecube playing cutscenes in engine was very impressive to me.
@warmblur: I did not play it on launch but I previously only played ratchet and clank games( first one came with my ps2 and got me hooked, war of the monsters and devil may cry 3). RE4 on the ps2 blew me away even though it was a inferior port when I played it

I was happy when Capcom brought it over to Steam because the original PC port that was done by Ubisoft was bad. They didn't bother to give it mouse support so you ether had to use a controller or keyboard only, and they ruined the cut-scenes by making them blurry. The Steam HD version really is the best port for Resident Evil 4.
Bought it on the PS2, finished it and sold, never to be bought again. Was ok but nowhere near as great as people make it out to be.
Capcom the kings of milking its fanbase with re-releasing its games.
Code Veronica is the best RE game.
I played it on PS2, Xbox 360, and XB1, not sure which is best, sure newer versions have updated aspect ratio and resolution, and playing on a modern system means reverting to dated controls, and there's no major updates to 3D models or textures. Still, game is still fun, but it packed the most punch for me when I played it on the PS2.
The best version is the one that's legally questionable:
Wii Edition on Dolphin with HD texture pack
The Wii Edition has the best controls. And you can make it look even better than the Steam version by playing it on Dolphin with HD texture pack.
Have you played it with a Steam controller? I'd say it's better than the wii version.
The (native) PC version also has a HD mod, although they might be one and the same thing.

Haven't used the Steam controller. How does it compare to the PlayStation or Xbox controllers? Either way, I doubt I'd enjoy it more than the Wii Edition. The Wiimote brings a whole new light-gun type feel to the game.
The HD texture mods for both the Steam and Dolphin versions more-or-less look similar. There's also the Ishiiruka version of Dolphin which has graphical features like Phong shading, which I haven't yet seen implemented in mods for the native PC version.

The Steam Controller uses Gyro with a touch-pad and allows the player to (optionally) instantly turn when they push back.
I didn't use instant turn (because the game wasn't designed with it in mind) and it's already fairly easy to begin with but generally perfected it over the wii controller.
Haven't actually played it with Xbox/PS controller. Once you get use to the trackpad combined by light-gyro use, generally don't want to use thumb-sticks.
@Shmiity: Agreed. its aged AF. I missed out on playing it in 2005, so I didn't get to enjoy it.
Looking forward to the RE4 remake in 4K/60 with the ability to move and shoot sometime in 2022-2023 though.

Jesus christ, haha. The first two thoughts that popped in my brain were "God, please stop milking RE4, dont remake it." and "I'd probably buy it if they remade it"
DAMN IT
