Recently and even before, playstation 4 specifically, have been for major part, an all that for remakes and remasters. Remakes are interesting but still they are poisoning the new consoles in that they are getting less of new titles or originals than they deserve. Most new games (PS4 Exclusives and new titles) that have been released to date are not that great. But just a few of them that i can count on my fingers are astounding and that is disappointing. Totally poisoning.

Good games to play are;

Persona 5

Last of us

God of war

Nier automata

Horizon dawn

Uncharted

Witcher

Bloodborne

Battlefield

Shadow of colossus

The last guardian

Dragon age

Monster hunter world

GTA 5

Metal gear solid phantom pain

Nioh

Dishoner

Watch dogs

Shadow of mordor

Far Cry

Detroit: Become Human

!! UPCOMING ONES !!

Resident evil 2

Resident Evil 3

Ghost of tsushima

Last of us 2

Spider man

Sekiro: Shadows die twice

Battlefield V

Catherine: Full Body

Anthem

Devil May Cry 5

Nioh 2

Kingdom hearts III

Death Stranding

Anything to add to the list please? Please avoid sports game because they arent games u know.

Nope. I love them myself. Also find plenty of “new” games to enjoy as well.

I really see no issue with remasters or remakes. I welcome them. It's convenient to have all of your favorite games in one place and a lot of them receive drastic improvements. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was one of my favorite games of 2017. I had to play it for at least 60-70 hours and it came out like 12 years ago so in a way it felt kind of new. If you don't like them you don't have to buy them but I have no problem with them and will continue to support the one's that interest me like The Devil May Cry and Shenmue collections

- Remakes are lazy cash grabs
- Remakes suck up resources

You need to pick one of these.

You should get a Switch! They shoved the Wii U library into it and charged full price for the ports... and people paid. Quite bold.

I'm fine with remasters and remakes, sometimes I just want to play something familiar rather than something new.

Nothing wrong with a remake as long as it's done properly, remasters are generally a money grab and a cheap way to bolster a new console's library.

Remakes/Remasters may have been an issue at the start of the generation (TLOU, Saints Row, Dead Island.....), but more recent efforts have been legitimate. Crash, Spyro, RE2, SOTC, and more have shown that remasters and remakes can be done right. I'd welcome more of them if they are done in the same way as the four I previously listed.

I love remakes, granted they are executed properly. Better fps, higher resolution, textures, physics, better sound, and bells and whistles. I see no problem whatsoever with giving classic games a face-lift with newer technology. Predominantly a PC gamer, The Last of Us on PS4 was twice as enjoyable for me with double the framerate, which was a major blemish on the PS3 version. The remaster of Shadow of the Colossus is undoubtedly a much more enjoyable experience now.

I welcome remasters and remakes with open arms and hope more are coming. The time and money they require (relative to a new game) is minuscule. They do not preclude new games from arriving as we still have new AAA behemoths in the pipeline as well as an abundance of indies. I have more games than I know what to do with.

A great time to be a gamer, and there's room for everything.....remakes and remasters included.

I never owned a wiiu so I am very happy to be getting portable versions of so many awesome games that I missed out on, really hoping they port super mario 3d world at some point.

Although I rarely buy remasters/remakes they are certainly not a bad thing, they let new generations of people experience the classics, while also letting people play better versions of dated games they have fond memories for, and in the case of switch/wiiu, you get a better version that is portable, which is really awesome

I don't really see the problem. It not like people get angry about the fact you can buy old films on new platforms like UHD Bluray or old music on new platforms.

Also you need to remember that the gaming world doesn't not revolve around you. Plenty of new gamers are getting into gaming and may not have played some of the older classics.

Although hopefully going forward there will be no need for remasters as the games we have now will just work on the new consoles that come out in the future.

Why did you add remakes and remasters to your list? For being "poison", you seem to like it a lot.

Not all remastered games are completed by the original developers. There are developers out there that just remake old games.

Which means that you're still getting lots of new games, not fewer.

I like them. Especially when it's a game that you were wanting to play when it came out on previous consoles, but never got a chance to.

The annoying bit is porting to a console from one generation to another. For example, take FFX on the PS3 and PSP... a few years later its released on the PS4. Like why?! It's essentially grinding out as much cash from our wallets.

If there is a demand for remakes and remasters, I don't see a problem.

If I see a remake of Flight Simulator X (PC) in full DX12 glory, I'd fork out $80 right now. ;)

Have you seen the graphical enhancements on the FFX/X-2 Remaster on the PS4? It seriously makes it so you're able to see details that you'd never see on a weaker system. It honestly made me feel a deeper appreciation for the work that they put into the graphical design? I own FFX/X-2 on all 3 platforms but I do feel stupid for buying it 3 times lol

I have seen comparison clips on youtube, and there isn't a major difference between PS3 and PS4 but is noticeable on further inspection. Then again, there's nothing wrong getting the game on multiple platforms, it's all about the nostalgia. FFX and FFVIII are my favourite Final Fantasy games of all time and would pay anything for it lol.

@zintura: Or how quirky Zell and Selphie were. FF8's cast had a realistic chemistry kind of more like a Persona cast imo. And yea I agree on the Rinoa. Squall jumped out a spaceship and floated through open space for her lol

I agree, there's certainly a higher ratio of people that love 6, 7 and 9. The best Final Fantasy storylines have to be anything before FF12.

Square-Enix's golden era ended at FF12. FF13 onwards is the decline of quality main Final Fantasy games.

@omegamaster: I honestly feel like FFXIII (not the sequels) still stands head and shoulders above your average JRPG. It's just not the best Final Fantasy game. I'm happy we got it. I would've been pissed if SE let us go a whole gen without a main entry in the series tho

To be honest, I cherry-picked a lot of the JRPGs and bought most Final Fantasy games on day one. I would say it's slightly above average since I ended up buying the sequels and FF13 official strategy guide.

Whereas FF15 could have been a great game, but greedy Square-Enix decided to screw us over by giving us a beta version of the game, re-release it 2 years later at full price and it's still not complete.

Remasters are waste of energy. Devs should be making new games, not polishing old ones.

Also

Remasters have made me hate some games I used to love.

LA Noire is the best example. Loved it on 360 despite its faults. Then I played the remaster on PS4, and it was identical to the original. All the same faults, which, on superior PS4, made the game feel totally shit. Such a massive disappointment, I simply stopped playing the game on all platforms.

Funny how most of the best games this gen are PS4 exclusive. That's why it is outselling Xbone and Switch combined worldwide.

@valgaav_219: absolutely in agreement. Rinoa was infact the first video game character i fell in love with. She is just awesome. I also loved the game's architecture, graphics were superb, loved the script, and cities and the music. Its my second best after legend of dragoon. The issue is developer's tastes these days have diverted from our taste to some extent. Developers and Gamers are not at exactly at the same page.

Depends. If it's well-done, it's a welcoming addition. Remakes and remasters are often opportunities for people to play them who didn't get a chance to the previous gen.
