I liked him the Wii era. He's weird, but a PR man through and through.

Thoughts? Shed a tear yet?

Wow. This kind of surprised me a bit. He was an ok guy and I probably will miss him. The fact that his replacement is named Doug Bowser though is quite funny.
This is kind of surreal. All the well known PR guys from the big 3 companies are gone. Kaz, Jack Tretton, Iwata died, Reggie's retiring, Mattrick was forced out. Phil is the only well known one left.
End of an era for memes.
I guess his body is ready. Good on him, happy retirement.
Now that's said, I think you missed the best part; his replacement will be a guy named Doug Bowser. That is just too damn perfect.
Couldn't stand the insincere way he used to talk during presentations but aside from that I dont know him personally, so enjoy your retirement.
Didn’t Doug Bowers JUST move up in the company like 2 years ago? Or get hired? Weird replacement
Apparently he's the genius behind all the initial Switch marketing.
The reveal video is already legend.

Well then this makes sense. The Switch marketing campaign was fantastic. A complete turnaround from the WiiU missteps. Will miss Reggie though. He seemed like a genuine Nintendo fanboy. It's nice when a PR guy comes off like he's in his dream job.
Good for Reggie. Thought he did a great job for Nintendo. Lucky bastard does not even look like he is even 50 yet. We all should be so lucky to retire at that age. Hope it was not forced and wish him the best.
As do others.

All the best to Reggie Fils-Aime on the next phase of his life and career. Great leader, industry partner and friend.

Many of you know I am a huge fan of Nintendo (since a kid!). Over the last 15 years Reggie Fils-Aime has done a great job. I'm sad to see him retire, but also happy for him to spend more time with his family. Thank you for great entertainment.

I'm glad he left while Nintendo was on top.
It's in good hands.
The hands of Bowser.
Wait...
Pretty much this lol.
He's 57 years old and I guess for his age, it's understandable he's ready to retired and for better or worse, the guy was A-okay as the President Nintendo of America and he was always on the YouTuber's side, so all the Youtubers out there better be thankful he never look down on them.
Thank you for all you done Reggie & enjoy the retirement settlement :)
I liked how Reggie said "It's not game over for me but "leveling up" on time with his wife and family".
Reggie was always a class act and had that enthusiasm that is what Nintendo is all about.
@the-a-baum: Phil and Mike are class acts, nice of them to give him a send-off like that.
That's because the Big 3 don't take this console war seriously as gamers have been. They respect each other but more so towards Nintendo but both Reggie & Phil enjoy working together the most.
Maybe now we'll see more games where Mario is the bad guy!
I actually think that would make for an interesting game where we get to play as Bowser and from his point of view Mario is the bad guy.

Yeah that's the impression I got too, a lot of mutual respect between the leaders of the three companies. It's funny because Reggie's debut at E3 2004 was pure System Wars material, but he became far more chill as he settled into the job. Him and Phil seem like genuine friends.

Yeah I think that would be cool too. Mario is actually quite a shady character once you start digging into his past lol.
Retiring early, meaning he's pretty much set for the rest of his days. So long and thanks for all the memes.
I am quite surprised that Reggie just retired at age 57. He could have spend several more years until he reached 65 and decide to retire like my father did more than a decade ago.
Thank you Reggie for your years of service as President an COO of Nintendo of America.
Always thought he was a little strange, but I think I will miss seeing him around. Good luck to him.

That's Nintendo though. They are all a little off over there and why we like them.
Not for me but will gladly make Nintendo my kid's first console.
Can't believe the new President of Nintendo is BOWSER! Makes me wonder if other successors were passed over because of this.
His former association with Electronics Arts has me worried, though...

He was VP of Sales when he was hired in 2015, but was promoted to senior VP of Sales and Marketing which is his current position.

Yeah he really loves Nintendo. But I'm sure his job made it so he had no personal life- 12-15 hour days. After 15 years I'm sure that gets old. Can't blame him at all and money isn't everything.
@freedomfreak: Nintendoomed?
yep this bowser guy won't know what to do compared to reggie
