@ProtossRushX: Agreed but it's good to see them pushing 60fps. I'm hearing a lot of good things about rage 2! This and metro exodus are looking to be great fps additions.
Console version will still be shit compared to PC version, but at least they got their priorities straight with frame rate coming first.
You mean compared to versions played on a high-end PC... yes.
Anyway, sounds good. Looking forward to playing it on my X.
@hrt_rulz01: Regardless what BassMan says, 60fps for Rage is a step in the right direction and it's nice seeing developers priorities goes for better framerates for making a better smooth game.
Yeah, definitely. Some games it's more important than others, but for a shooter like Rage, it's definitely good.
Playing Just Cause 4 which, iirc, runs on the same engine. It looks good, but not that good. I believe consoles could run this game at 60 FPS with some settings set to low and medium.

id Software is definitely one of the better developers when it comes to console versions. They always make 60fps a priority with the exception of the Switch, but that hardware is laughably bad. They can't work miracles. LOL

It's not the same engine. Rage 2 run on ID Tech. Just Cause 4 runs on Avalanche's proprietary engine Apex.
So the game will,
- Look bad
- Sell poorly
- Not make any money
Did Doom 2016 look bad on PS4/Xbone? If I recall correctly, that ran at 60 fps and still managed to look pretty damn good. As for the game selling poorly, I'm not sure what you're basing that on. From what I've seen the game looks pretty damn fun, and the fact it runs at 60hz will make the gameplay feel so much better than your average console FPS.
I wont buy any game with microtransactions. maybe the new rage game with both 60fps on consoles and no microtransactions is gonna be my next purchage in some time
Don't know why people would think no multiplayer or less content is a positive, unless they have no interest in multiplayer games in general. If a shooter has solid mechanics, they will fit multiplayer. Enemy scripts are still far too simplistic. Dominating computer opponents is not as satisfying as dominating players.

remember the days where every FPS developer want to tack on 6 hour SP and MP to justify full price?
thats why we have problem with MP. games like this need long and varied campaign rather than budget wasted on MP that no one wanted.

That's a relief, would have been disappointed if Rage 2 looked that "bad".

Actually, I'm pretty sure RAGE 2 runs on Apex.

So develop it longer or find a separate team for the multiplayer. Having no MP doesn't make a game better.
@ezekiel43: I didn't specify no multiplayer being a good or bad thing in OP. Just a fact of their design decision. Although it's a decision I respect more than tacking on multiplayer just to tick off that box, which seems to be more of the norm nowadays.

My post was more towards Ghosts4ever. Your bullet point also said "nor NG+," so I wasn't sure if you considered it a positive. Tacked on multiplayer is occasionally the reason I play games for so long. Like I said, if the shooter has good mechanics, they will usually fit in a versus mode.

Must suck to have a platform where everyone plays a different quality version of the game.
Even worse, most can't even afford the high end settings.
No Microtransactions? Holy ****. Does this mean you can unlock things in the game without having to gamble or otherwise pay for it?
I'm really interested in this.
@ezekiel43: That's fair. Personally if the multiplayer isn't a unique experience I just don't bother. For example, I didn't bother with doom multiplayer since it seemed like an afterthought (despite the great shooting mechanics). In contrast, Naughty Dog put a lot of work into Uncharted 3 multiplayer and I had a blast with that.

Lol, yep.

That is a strength of PC... its versatility and ability to scale. People can play to their own standards or budgets. They are not limited to the set hardware or design decisions of the developers like on console. Each PC Gamer's setup is not my concern and people can choose how they spend their money. Plenty of options for everybody.

Additionally, you won't need a high end PC to noticeably surpass console performance.

Reminds me a bit of the fact that some people can't afford an Xbox One X versus a regular Xbox. ;)
It would be the worst to have to deal with whatever the graphics are going to be for the regular Xbone/PS4, or having to spend 400+ dollars to get a better experience. Lol
@GarGx1: He didn't specify so I would think it is all the consoles. That would be very important information to leave out otherwise!

Yeah, looks like I was wrong. My bad...
Hard to believe id use to be famous for their multiplayer.
beside its not id software game. its avalanche game. id software is only doing shooter and role of id software in this game is as much as there role was in RTCW.
only tim willits attached to this game. rest of id software crews are working on Doom Eternal.

The majority id's MP were handled by third party.
