Same here. I only have the PSP but unless I go somewhere (on vacation for example), I hardly ever use it. I have a PS2 and 360. Why play a portable gaming system?

The DS games are games I wouldn't be able to find on the 360 or PS2 so I'm guessing I'd have more fun with it.

For me the DS is not only the best handheld it is also the best video-games machine I have played in many years, perhaps since the PS1/N64 era. If it were not for the DS it is safe to say I would of given up on gaming right now, many of the titles are fresh, innovative and accessible; the software is largely built for the system- a feeling I do not get with the PSP. My brother recently bought the PSP and I have been less than impressed (Loco Roco is great), it feels like a PS2 in your hands which on paper sounds fantastic but in reality is not suitable for a handheld machine. Also the PSP has some rather substantial design flaws (shoulder buttons and analogue nub), the load times are also exacerbated because the machine is portable.

The PSP is not bad as such, just underwhelming and overloaded with unnecessary features.

Both the sales figures and the number of polls that have been done here before should have told everyone by now that most people prefer the DS to the PSP.

Both have great games. But I do not like the weird control nub on the PSP, and the touch screen = win. If Sony had another goofy control nub on the other side, it may be a different story altogether. I'd learn to love them, in that case.

Sure, can your DS play PS1 games(LEGALY) full speed? RSS? How about a decent web browser, or the fact that it can connect to the PS3 from any hotspot and use it as an external HD. And you have to buy extra hardware to play music/videos on the DS. Not to mention the stuff it can do with homebrew.

I'm talking about music and video. You can play NES, SNES and Genesis on it which I consider to be superior to playing PSX (sure it's not legal, sure). All those features you mention, except maybe for the external HD, are pretty much useless, IMO. But whatever floats your boat. It is my opinion, after all. I'm merely stating that the DS can do more than most people think. Don't need to get all worked up because of it.

Well I have both and honestly.

PSP.

Why? I really enjoy the games - its an extremelly capable handheld system, its other features, and of course the homebrew.

And there are loads of awesome titles on the PSP, in the contrary to many haters. CRUSH - which I bought recently is freaking amazing, and Dead Head Fred looks flipping awesome.....

no actually they are now. a lot of Ds games are actual true sequals, that you wouldnt find on consoles anymore.. prime example..

contra 4
legend of kane 2

The Ds is the ultimate gaming handheld, cause it does different kinds of games, thanks to the touch screen feature. this feature extend what could be done on any portable video game device. forget about playing mp3 music, movies, ect. this is all about which console can play games, the Ds does this well, while offering new and original titles.

Well you can say the exact thing about the PSP.

The only problem is faboys say crap on the contrary.

And the PSP offers plenty of new and original titles - that of course - rate well. You dont need a new control scheme to have original titles.

Hell if anything a new control scheme presents just as many hinderances as benifits. Look at the DSs game collection and you will see loads of games that make no advantage of the controls - other than just another way of inputting your actions.

Both are great handhelds, but both are drastically different in so many ways... Not just the hardware and astetics, but the software, and crux of games aswell...

I think its fantastic that there is finnally two choices of fantastic handheld, rather than the single choice over - for over a decade.

Hell my handheld collection in my Sig is testiment to that.

tsssk, PSP= atrac, mp3, ogg, wma, wav, wmv, .mp4, .avi. divx, .xvid, mpeg, .asf, .asx, .mov, .swf, .rm, .mkv........irc, AIM, MSN etc, emulates over 20+ systems incl. the DS itself, RSS, crazy customisation, remote desktop, YouTube video player, killer games etc....

curp11

Dont forget universal IR remote, and homebrew made games and other titles like Quake and Doom ported to the handheld - in true widescreen ect. - With MP intact.

Hell speaking of awesome brew games, the fantastic Zero Gravity is almost due - and it looks better than many retail games. Unfortunatly thats all these forums allow me to say...... Cant really discusss the brew here.

PSP = better graphics, better online, can do loads of stuff the DS can't. It alsohas better games in my opinion. 8)

DS = fancy stylus and teh touch screen. Plus it has tons of puzzle games. :|

PS3Compass

Is that supposed to be a downside? Meteos, Puzzle League, Picross, Tetris, Puzzle Quest, Polarium, Pokemon Link. Pure bliss for a puzzle fan like myself.
