Merely speculation but which next next gen system are you currently leaning towards purchasing in 3 - 8 years. I'll throw in a few givens.
Metal Gear Solid, SOCOM, God of War, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo will be on the Playstation 4 and Halo, Gears, Forza and whatnot will be on the Xbox 720.
The Xbox will probably release first the Sony console second.
Both systems will have tons of identical third party games in their libraries that will look slightly better on one system or the other.
They both will have cutting edge technology that is expensive and one system maybe cheaper than the other.
Both systems will offer next next gen graphics and gameplay
The Xbox system will have Live and the Playstation will have Home.
They both will have next gen hi-def media storage drives.
If I was collecting marketing data and you had the above parameters what would move you to choose one or the other.

Sony and Microsoft are. That's why they are already working toward developing and licensing hardware for their next systems. Faster processors, voice recognition software etc.
if ps3 sales dip under 100k we might not even see a ps4. The brand name will be ruined and devs will abandon the playstation platform. Those were the only 2 advantages that sony had and now they are going down the drain.
It's dangerous to give microsoft the largest market share because microsoft is such a powerful company and its there is only a small chance that sony can ever regain that market share.

???? 100K it sold more than that in japan on launch day. If you mean by month, it's never gonna happen. If you can sell 150K units in Japan alone in Feburary, it will certainly keep up.
