But the console doesn't die though, it only shuts-down to prevent damage from heat. Maybe Yoshida is just playing semantics here... Who knows but once the console is released its reliability will speak for itself. But still, I'm very concerned about my PS4 pre-order now... Even if it shuts-down to prevent damage it still means that it overheats.
At least it has a overheat failsafe. A lot of equipment doesn't. When I was uni, we had some old CCU's (Camera control units) on a shoot that were suffering from the summer heat. There is no warning or shutdown feature on those things, we only found out that one of them had died was when we lost a bunch of our camera feeds.
One of the main reasons for waiting to pick up any new console. Usually takes about 6 months before they have all the hardware issues ironed out. Unless it's a Nintendo Console...then you're good from the beginning.

@Outsider-G: I guess the devs who have REAL Retail PS4's weren't lying about this after all. Hope this crap doesn't happen to mine. XBox 360 had RROD and now PS4 has RLOD. Maybe PC gamers were right. Naaahhhh.

lol@ any cow that thinks this wont be a problem. You don't have to be an engineer to see a internal power supply in a wheel chock, causing problems. When you buy your PS4 put in in a fire proof entertainment center and you should be ok.

So much misinformation about this out there, its amazing. Well, fanboys are going to fanboy I guess. If you're expecting this to 'be an issue' when the retail unit comes out, I think you're in for a surprise.

The PS4 is a cool running beauty that doesn't have huge power brick trow around,while been small,the xbox one look to be engineer by Shaquille O'neal..
Is easy to see sony hardware making experience is paying off,the xbox one is bigger than an 80's VHS and still has an external PSU,imagine how much bigger it would be if the PSU was internal,it would be bigger than a PC case..hahaha

How do you know its cool running? I haven't seen Sony release any internal temperature readings.
