@ermacness: Yes! I forgot about the controller. The DS4 is a great improvement.
@i_p_daily: "My question to you is how did they learn from their PS3 mistakes, Please explain what you mean by that."
Architecture and pricing
I already said pricing, so yes they made it easier to make games on. But they have taken steps backwards from the PS3 also.
@i_p_daily: Are you serious? You can't see how Sony learned from the disaster that was the PS3 launch?
1. Price - they didn't make the PS4 $600
2. Ease of Development - Sony ditched the cell and went with an easier architecture for developers.
3. Dropped the Cocky attitude - Remember when Sony execs said people should get another job to afford a ps3? Hmmm they haven't said stupid crap like this with the PS4
4. Better Online - Yeah they charge for online now.....but so does MS. Lemmings always say how much better live is, well PS4 greatly improved on party chat, social interaction and content sharing, and the network is pretty stable. A huge improvement over the PS3 online infrastructure.
I know I'm feeding a troll, but come on man try harder
I already said price duh.
Ease of development, yep ok that's one.
Dropped the cocky attitude, well why they don't say much they are getting cocky by charging for stuff that was free last gen.
How was PS3's online a mistake? it may have been bare bones and was improved upon, but a mistake, no.
You came up with 1, while the rest was just trolling on your part.
Top 3 best-selling home consoles ever are Sony (PS2, PS4, PS1). PS3, with all its problems, still in the Top 5.
Not bad for a company going up against Nintendo and Microsoft and having made only six products:
But yes, Meltdown Lemmings and Salty Sheep, tell us how how MS and Nintendo does everything better any time these threads come up. They've defended their company so hard, one would think MS and Nintendo have had flawless runs and have experienced nothing but complete domination and annihilation. MS and Nintendo sure don't have four of the Top 5 home consoles of all time!
Sony is definitely far from perfect, but to achieve what they've done here, something must've been working with gamers. I'll go as far as to say it's a certain brand reliability (for the most part) with familiar features and ecosystem, solid 1st party exclusives, big ass 3rd party, good balance of price vs. power (except for the PS3 at the start), nice amount of discounted sales that occur quite often, and a few avenues of expansive experimentation (streaming, VR, accessories).
only counting home consoles like thats all that matters. even though nintendo and atari invented the fucking market in the first place. not to mention the dualshock is an snes controller with 2 analog sticks.
if you want to be a real gamer and not some fake fanboy piece of garabage. this is what you say.
1. ps2
2. DS
3. gameboy
4. PS4
5. PS1/Wii (tie)
thats 3 nintendo systems and 3 sony systems making the top 5 ever.
nintendo made gaming what it is and has almost double the amount of hardware sold than sony. not to mention nintendo has the most best selling games of all time. the majority of gamers say the snes is the best console of all time despite all the sales of sonys product.
nintendo has the most iconic characters in gaming. nintendo has never lost a handheld generation against anybody. they are undefeated.
nintendo are the real kings of gaming. golf clap to sony.
now sit your fanboy ass down.
Not surprising at all. Sony made a console that most people want. Just a regular console, light on gimmicks, with good graphics and a mix of first and third party games with good presentation and simple gameplay. The average casual gamers' choice.
All Sony have to do next gen to succeed is the exact same thing. If they're not going for some gimmick no one wants or puts a horrible price on their next console, next gen is theirs'.
They have it easy now that Nintendo does their own thing and Microsoft fails.

As Sony themselves said, it's rare for a console manufacturer to win two generations in a row. They learnt their lesson with the PS3, when they slacked off after the tremendous success of the PS2. Sony won't want to make the same mistakes again. Anything can happen next gen.
I want one, but I don’t know what I’d buy for it. I mostly play online and sony suffers in that department...badly. They have little to offer exclusive multiplayer wise, there’s no way I’d give them my credit card given their history and me enjoying making easy/fast purchases, and shaky online stability seems to be a recurring theme.
I’m happy sticking to my X1X and PC for my gaming needs.
@i_p_daily: Nope more than 1 learn to count and look at other posts.
1. Price
2. Dev Friendly
3. Improved online, don't care it was free for PS3; it's vastly improved now
4. Better controller, they finally made it more comfortable to hold
that's 4, last I checked 4>1
quit being ignorant
Very impressive and richly deserved, the PS4 is the X360 of this gen. Excellent from the very start and packed with brilliant games all gen long.
Obviously, sales matter because that's what determines what happens with the next console gen. Can you imagine if MS's shitty Kinectbox or Nintendo's garbage SuperWii + Tablet had won? Ugh!
Thankfully, the real console won, MS and Nintendo had to drop their crappy gimmicks and chase proper gaming again ;)
Next gen will be interesting though, Switch has it's own (brilliant) niche while MS have been aggressively fixing their flaws in recent years: ditching Kinect and casual gaming, focusing on pure gaming power with the OneX, opening new 1st party studios, buying up brilliant 3rd parties like Obsidian, giving us backwards compatibility, etc. They could at least make next gen a fight again!
I’m happy sticking to my X1X and PC for my gaming needs.
Dude, what the heck kind of sense does this make. If you have a suitable PC you certainly don't need an X1X lol.
@subspecies: Nope! I enjoy both. I have my pc in the basement for online casinos and WoW and my X1X in the living room for comfort. I’m happy with my set up!
Well, I guess that's cool. As long as you're okay with playing inferior versions of most games.
@Arkhalipso:
Sales HAH
When I decide to buy a multiplat I don’t look at both my consoles and think I’ll get it for the pro because the PS has sold more,I get it for my X because it will look and play better
Sales and 1 system,1 brain cell fanboys HAH
@bluestars: No one does. The thing is, the more platforms they sell, the more games we'll probably get. Sucks to own the bottom 3rd console I guess. Either way, you should be happy console gaming is doing great. It's something I guess :D
Kudos to Sony for having the top spots in the best selling consoles ever. They have been light on the gimmicks and kept producing consoles with a decent amount of exclusives that people enjoy. Sony also has a long history in gaming which sets them among the historical giants like Nintendo. Well deserved.

The problem is you and a few others are the worst fanboys. You have not praised or even acknowledged that Sony has done well. It's almost like you only want one company to exist in video gaming.
I was praising Nintendo in this very thread in response to low-level poster Pedro, who just scoffs at every mention of Sony sales news and calls it existentially meaningless, but gets excited about MS sales news (if there are any). Nintendo has undoubtedly made numerous changes to fix a lot of problems they had during the Wii U era, and that is why more sales can equal a lot more games and high quality ones. Who would argue otherwise?
I have not seen you ever say anything good about Sony. You crap on them even if they achieve something the other 2 major companies didn't. You crap on them if they hit #1 on any chart, if they get any score over 9.0, if they do well in UK or Japan or North America, if they hit a milestone record for gaming, earn GOTY awards, and even when they take a risk not many are usually taking (like completely reimagining God of War, or Naughty "Uncharted Series" Dog making a huge departure like The Last of Us). Everything is "crap" to you.
I have not blasted Nintendo for Breath of the Wild getting GOTY, or Mario Odyssey getting rave reviews, or Nintendo expanding their third-party reach this gen. I don't think every Nintendo decision has been perfect, but even those who don't own a Switch can tell Nintendo is in a much better place now than during the Wii U or GCU years, which had the great games but not the sales. Compare this to you who won't even acknowledge simple words printed in a headline. You're the cranky fanboy who lives in an alternate reality far away from facts, that nobody wants to sit with on the bus.
Also, I have no problem acknowledging the Top 10 including the handhelds. I don't hide from facts and cry about it like you. The point is, Sony has only released 6 major console/portable products and they have all done rather well, except for Vita (which is ranked #21 on the all-time list, sandwiched in between the GCU and Wii U, funnily enough).
Yes, Nintendo has sold a ton of games, but are you counting their early days before Sony and MS even joined the competition? It would be nice if you acknowledge that part too, you know. Nintendo has been making entertainment games, according to Nintendo fanboys, since the 1800s! I would hope you sell a shit ton more gamey thingies.
A normal gamer can acknowledge the other side, the achievements of the competitors and the overall landscape. They may not own the consoles and play the games, but they understand the appeal some of it may have. My criticisms are more towards the extreme fanboys themselves, who won't admit to anything that isn't favorable to their own company. Every post of theirs (like you and Pedro) is dripping with jealousy and fanboy freakout. Tone that shit down, Hudson.
Sweet, I am not sure how this means anything to the average gamer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Why do you always type the same low-level post every time?
If Xbox One sold over 102.5 million, they'd have a lot more new IPs broadening their library, and even have the luxury to take bolder risks (just make sure they are smart and not dumb risks) and make plenty of new lucrative partnerships. Budgets could be fantastically bigger for existing franchises, giving developers a lot more breathing room.
Nintendo is in a lot better place now with the Switch compared to the Wii U. There's lots of new game announcements all the time and side projects that would not have happened if the Switch only sold 13.5 million and died. Every single person here would agree. Selling 102.5 million or 80 million is a lot better for those consumers than selling 30-40 million and being "stuck". And while nothing is ever guaranteed, selling 102.5m sure puts you in a good starting place for next gen. I wouldn't bet money on Scarlett's sales performance right now, considering how MS has performed with the Xbox One. Guess which console high-rollin' Las Vegas betters would put their money on when it comes to selling more in the next 5 years: PS5 vs. Scarlett? And why is that? Who has a more reliable pattern of success? Who has the worse droughts and struggles? Are you trying to tell me history gives absolutely no indication of future performance? Why does an employer look at resumes, then? Why does a General Manager and head coach look at a college kid's football stats and footage? Why bother looking at their body of performance? Do you even have an answer or do you just shrug scoffingly, as a message board space-filler?
Next time Xbox One fans post any sales news, I'll remember to post "This means nothing, only desperate people care. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯", and then Ctrl+C and make sure to save that hum-dinger.
Why does my post concern you so much?

You're being the ignorant one, I always said price so that was established from the start so it doesn't need to be stated again.
I acknowledged the ease of developer use.
This is about fixing their mistakes, having a better online & controller this gen doesn't make what they had last gen were mistakes. You can stop trolling now and go back under your bridge.
So what device do you spend the most of your gaming time on Pedro???
Why do you ask?
Its a simple question pedro why are you stalling???
@Pedro: Lol. Fanboys are funny.
Look at these two fanboys talking to each other, not realizing they are what they accuse. Hilarious! I tried to expand on something because your posts are so bankrupt, and then you pretend one-liners and gifs are all that's needed. I'll remember that next time.
Prove you two aren't fanboys: say positive things about what Sony has accomplished here, or elsewhere.
Watch these two fanboys collapse inwardly like the Witch King at the end of Return of the King. They can't do it, because they are fanbois. Even worse, they both own a PS4 because they couldn't wait to play the games they said they hate. Xbox One must've been inadequate for them, and dare I say, had lots of boring.

Poor old Quacknight/Recloud... still as sad as ever I see.
If you took your fanboy glasses off for 5 seconds, you'd see that I complimented Sony in this very thread. I said that it was impressive...
And no, I don't own a PS4. It has no games that really interest me (only Ratchet & Clank and Detroit - but not worth buying just for that). But keep trying :)

Why are you so upset?
Its a simple question pedro why are you stalling???
Because I am not obligated to answer your question. Its that simple. :)
Oh you won't because we both already know the answer, and it doesn't favour you lol.
Oh you won't because we both already know the answer, and it doesn't favour you lol.
Again, why do you ask, especially when you supposedly know the answer? LOL
See you can't answer a simple question.
See you can't answer a simple question.
Again, why are you asking? :)
What do you game on the most, simple question why do you refuse to answer?
@x_hedon: No what I mean is if you want to be able to play every PS4 game, for instance, as in have access to the entire library, you're going to need a PS4. There are many games only playable on PS4. That can't be said for the XB1/X1X. Hence my original comment.
Its what they deserve since so many of the games have been:
a) single player games with great value and b) 8 out of 10 in quality or higher in a few instances.
I'll take a handful of very good-great games over a plethora of mediocre ones.
Long live Sony's 2013 E3.
The greatest ownage and humiliation of MS and the lemmings ever to occur in history.
Sony DOMINATED MS this gen and most of the filthy lemmings who were so high and mighty during the 360 years have vanished.
PS5 will finish the rest off.

@i_p_daily: Why are you asking? It’s a simple question.😏
I asked you first, so when you answer my question I will answer yours, now stop stalling pedro and answer the question.
