[QUOTE="neogeo419"][QUOTE="nVidiaGaMer"] I'm guessing that the PS2 won't be discontinued till next year since it still has some software: Yakuza 2, Star Wars Force Unleased, Mercenaries 2, Persona 4, Ferrari Challenge, and a bunch of other games still coming out for it. If thats true then it will have had a 9 year life cycle which is much better then the 5 year cycles that both the Gamecube and XBOX had. I also think the PS2 will drop from $129 to $99 around this holiday season.
There are no gaming PCs that even come close to a 5 year life cycle without having to upgrade a component(s). I got a AMD 3800+, 1GB RAM, Geforce 7600GT only 2 years ago (it was a good mid-range computer for its time) and I recently had to upgrade to a 9800GTX and an extra gig of RAM just to play some games. I'll also have to get a dual core if I want to play newer games like Assasins Creed.
I like both consoles and PCs but consoles are better in terms of longevity.

Nice bottleneck on that gtx btw. Anyway you blah, blah, blah about longevity in PS2. That 7600gt gpu kills what is in PS2. So you could play PS2 type games forever, but you could still get med/low on a game like Crysis with a 3800/7600gt(just need the 2gb of ram). Listing AC(which is a Ps3 tile) is a fail comparision. Upgrading a PC is like going from PS2 to PS3. Anyway I just picked up a PS2 slim on ebay for $50. Mine got the DRE for good back in 06 to the point where the fix did not work anymore. Anyway can't wait to play SotC.PS2 games are still coming out so it doesn't matter. If I stayed with a 7600GT for 8 years would I play the newest games? NO. If you bought a PS2 and 8 years later will you be able to play new PS2 games? YES.
I was lagging on Crysis with my 7600GT to the point of not being able to play. Consoles ftw.
What settings were you playing? If you have no problems playing PS2 games in 2008 then why do you have a problem playing crysis in low?:roll:Even in the lowest possible res and settings, crysis looks 10x better than any PS2 game. And no it wont lag AT ALL on your 7600GT.
And besides where is your MGS4 on the PS2?It's not there so what is the difference here between buying a PS3 for MGS4 and upgrading your PC for crysis(which BTW your PC can play very smoothly at low)?Just like a PS2 only owner would not buy MGS4 cuz he will have to "upgrade" to the PS3,similarly you just dont buy crysis.
Seriously dude your argument is terribly flawed. You are at one side talking about a gamer who will be happy gaming on a PS2 in 2008 and on the other hand you are bringing in someone who "must" upgrade his PC cuz ZOMG he cant wait to play crysis in reasonable settings.:|
