Prey is a GOTY contender

lolno. It's a really good game, but you dudes gotta chill out with calling something a masterpiece every other week lol.

Very much enjoying it, not done with it yet and I'm taking my time exploring and doing all the side missions. Space station is very well designed and is a joy to explore. For me it's one of the best sci-fi games I've played in years, the setting is similar to Dead Space 2 but overall it is a very different kind of game,

Looks like it is meant to be played stealth, but for people like me who don't like too much stealth I'm glad I was able to play the game with a more specialized build that favors aggressive encounters(put a lot of points in health, medkit potency, weapon proficiency and that kinetic power move or stun gun).

My only gripes so far would be long loading times, which is not a big deal overall because otherwise games runs very well on XOne, not a single crash or issue so far. I also would have liked a 180 turn around move, sometimes I hear something behind me and he feels a little slow to turn. Minor gripes overall though, I really enjoy these games where you are exploring a space station and I'm a huge fan of Dead Space, so this is a great treat for me and I'm looking forward to a 2nd playthough afterwards no doubt.

Metro 2033 was pretty buggy af... they only redeemed themselves half a decade later by remaking it. As for Prey, the amount of people complaining about the game is minuscule.

Doom was in development hell for like a million years and it didn't have a good PR showing...

i'm having a great time with it albiet i'm still early on. The various gameplay systems all seem to fit together really well, and it plays nice and smooth in the same way as the Dishonored games. So far I'd say I'm enjoying it more than last year's Deus Ex thanks to the bigger focus on gameplay.

my only issue is that it somehow lacks its own Identity. I read in an interview that they devs kinda slapped the Prey name on a game they were already making. So it just feels like kinda a weird mix of other games and generic sci-fi. I am enjoying the story elements so far though.

I also wish it had a better lighting engine. That would have made it so much more atmospheric and creepy.

I think it will be between Zelda and Persona 5. Objectively speaking, me being a PC fanboy and all, I must give it to Persona 5 lol

I think there are only 3 true contenders this year: BotW, Horizon, and RDR 2.

Prey has been enjoyable and quite anticipating as I play but GOTY? Come On.

I've been hearing a lot of mixed things. In the year of a 96 Zelda on Metacritic, with Prey only at 81... I'm highly doubting it as a GOTY contender.

That and it is hard to be GOTY in a FPS. You generally need to see your character to have a game that good.

Played the Prey demo and didn't care for it. I'll eventually get around to GameFly'ing it. My personal game of the year so far is Horizon Zero Dawn. Playing through Botw at the moment as well which is good so far.

And so is Zelda BOTW

I been hearing great things about this game world. Look forward to trying it.

I love it. I'd say it has a chance to be in my top 5 for 2017.

Crazy that IGN gave it a 4 due to a corrupted save bug...... It's funny... apparently the beta patch on Steam contains a "Fix to prevent Save games from becoming corrupted. Fix also returns corrupted Save games to uncorrupted state"

Zelda is going to most likely take GOTY. Would take one amazing game to top the positive feedback Zelda has gotten. Like it's amazing Zelda even reviewed so well, let alone another game beat even that

You really like Horizon all that much? Because I'm playing it, and it's fine, but that's all it is to me. It's fine. My buddy says that game really starts picking up though when more n more of the crazier machines start showing up.

And if that Wii-A-Moo game has the added benefit not appearing on the yucky X1, it gets an additional 2 bonus points making it a 10/10. lol :P

Maybe, we dont know yet, but so far from released games Prey is the best bet of GOTY

It needs both better lighting and textures. A lot of cheap lighting with no dynamic effects definitely do plague it and tone down the creepy factor.

Interesting. As a PC fanboy, so also an agent of truth, I would give it to Zelda for now. Because Persona 5 is an excellent Persona game, but BotW is an excellent BotW game.

I do. It has flaws, no doubt. Like some of the worst AI at points. I made a youtube video of me stalking the last bandit in an outpost after having freed captives. The captives literally run right by the bandit, brushing against him and he takes no notice. These were prisoners of his bandit crew only a minute before. LOL But I accept that games are never going to be perfect. I am highly entertained by the world, setting, creatures of Horizon. The gameplay is fun to me.

I havent played Zelda so I cant weigh in on that. I have played enough of Persona 4 to know 5 is a waste of time for me. I made this thread and titled it as it is to stir up debates. In reality its just about what has been the most entertaining games I have played so far in 2017. Prey is among them.

LOL there is some evidence to certain games being below the meta average and certain ones being above from GS reviewers that's for sure.
