It's neither helping nor harming, it's just adding another venue for people to play. Simply amazing how people consider a different controller or more accessible gaming as the fall of the industry.
However, thinking every game needs to have amazing graphics is killing games. Great games cant be developed because their companies can't get the man-power to make the graphics required. The Wii actually fixes this problem.
The only thing that destroys gaming is when game systems stay the same only adding graphics and expect you to play high price for the hardware and software.
