Playstation 5 will be unveiled at 2019 PSX and released within the Holidays

Once the last of the promised PS4 titles release next year, Sony will be gearing up for the PS5.

KH3, FF7, Death Stranding, and Cyberpunk 2077 will likely be cross platform games or just flat out gen 9 games by the time they release.

It doesn't mean that PS4 won't get cross-gen titles, it still will since the PS5 will likely run on the same architecture and be more of an "upgrade" than a flat out new revolutionary console.

Mark it on the calendar, 2019 PS5 release.

I hope it makes me sandwiches. The lack of innovation in consoles will be the death of them.

I think that it’ll be announced at E3 2019 and released in November of the same year.

Unless PS4 sales are dying, I don't see much of Sony's in shock with the X1X.

@SecretPolice: LOL just saying, only Sony cares about is profits. When they see PS4 is decaying, they'll be ready for PS5. Yeah yeah, power is one thing, I get it but sales however, is another story.

Indeed, it's a SW barnyard meltdown with many herms seemingly struggling with the fact that their 2000.00 mega PC from a year or two ago is now being matched or beat by a 500.00 MonsterBox. lol :P

I wont lie, I really hope the new consoles wait atleast until 2020. I am nervous to invest in new consoles these days when it wont even last four years.

@brah4ever: By that time X1X will play almost every title ever to exsist on xbox platforms. I mean I get the Sony has some great exclusives but hanging on to that being everything still is a 2005 mentality. The services on xbox are light years better. 4-6 free games every month, the best graphics (on consoles) easy, xbox game pass, backwards compatibility 2 generations back. These are huge imo. I mean fanboys act like they are going to play uncharted and GOW over and over forever or Zelda and Mario. Its an old outdated arguement. 4 or 5 good exclusives doesnt compare to all the above benefits imo.

Isn't PSX usually in december? How would that make sense for a 2019 PS5 release

@drlostrib: it already has a large chunk of the 360 and starting on the og. In 2 years most games that can will be on the system. I still own a 360 and only own one game that doesnt play on the one (tom clancy End War). Pretty much any game you would want to play on the 360 is playable on the one. In 2 years it will be the same with the og.

It's mainly a licensing issue, which gets more difficult for a lot of those older xbox games

With the huge sales numbers PS4 is doing, Sony would be stupid to bring out the PS5 in the next 3-4 years. Especially considering Sony doesnt support BC it would fracture their market.

Makes sense. Two year incremental upgrade cycle for the consoles with full backwards compatibility and multi generation support. I can see it.

Why does it have to be a hard generation? Make it fully BC with the PS4/PS4 Pro. Slowly phase out the PS4 from production. Done.

@Wasdie: Sony has already stated they have no plans on doing BC since remasters are a part of their revenue model.

OT: I don't see PS5 releasing till 2020. The PS4 is printing Sony too much money with no signs of slowing down. Sales will have to start slowing down for them to launch a PS5. They are gonna milk PS4 profits as much as they can. Power means nothing to them, profits mean everything. The only people that care about power are fanboys on forums, these corporations only care about profits.

Sony is going to rush out their next console because ms has the power lead. Not to mention they are announcing it over 2 years in advance. Seems like a cheap play to say "hey, heeeeeey, hey, no wait, we will release a better one soon, just wait". Lol.

Meanwhile xbox one X pro will release and the back and firthbwill continue. But with sony not doing BC the console will start with a game drought while x1x continues to get all the games since each iteration will have bc.

This gen can continue if they ditch the OG consoles, Xbone and PS4.

Sony is the least trust worthy company to commit to BC. ALL of their Backwards Compatibility initiatives have been terrible or a complete disaster for the company. The reason why Microsoft can do BC very well is because the games/apps are inside a VM and aren't directly native to the console. Sony's implementation is the opposite and "to the Metal" programming, so keeping commitment to BC is very tricky. Xbox 360 is basically a VM inside the XB1. So the OS switches from the XB1 OS to the XB360/OG XB OS

We need a cpu upgrade in order not to bottleneck the rest of the hardware so games run at 60fps or higher & physics and AI can also finally become more advanced.

Am I right to assume that Ryzen Cpu's would be just as easy to program for as a Jaguar cpu. Jaguar coded games would be easy to port to Ryzen as well right?

A low end Ryzen already mops the floor with an 8-core jaguar cpu, so why keep Jaguar in the first place???

Scorpio ain't even out a week and Lems are begging for a new PlayStation... Not surprising.

That's why I say, get a Switch!
