That’s why I’m excited to share that we will soon give you a first look at the games you’ll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday. The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. Studios, both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have been hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.

This digital showcase will run for a bit more than an hour and, for the first time, we will all be together virtually experiencing the excitement together. A lack of physical events has given us an amazing opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. This is part of our series of PS5 updates and, rest assured, after next week’s showcase, we will still have much to share with you.

Ryan wants to put that uncertainty to rest. PS5 will launch this year globally, and its first-party games are on schedule. But that doesn't mean it's been business as usual for the console maker.

One way to keep PS4 users engaged would be to make upcoming PS5 games playable on the older machine, just like Microsoft is proposing with its Xbox Series X games being playable on Xbox One. Yet Ryan says that's not something PlayStation is interested in doing.

Cautiously excited. It better be more revealing than repetitive of what we've already seen (e.g., Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 for freaking 20 minutes is NOT what I'm interested in seeing, even though I'm very excited for that game. We've seen that on PS4. New game announcements, prices, dates, console images - mostly new stuff please)

If they spend a few minutes showing exactly what improves in Ghost when compared to the ps4 version, i'd gladly watch that. This may've been a ps5 version (on a dev kit with similar specs). It looks significantly better than the state of play gameplay we've just seen. If the difference is this major, i will wait to play TLOU2 and Ghost on the ps5.

That’s probably a reason why they don’t want to make comparisons for those two games in particular. They don’t want people to wait.

I’m not so worried about them not showing new stuff. I’m more worried about them showing teasers for games that won’t come out until 2023. Like ND:s next project etc.

But waiting would be harmful in this case. It just encourages people to buy the newer system. The game purchase would still be a done deal.

Yeah, but there is a risk that when people wait they end up not getting the game at all. Or they buy these two games instead launch games. I think they prefer to get the money now.

That being said they could commit to a free upgrade like MS has done. Then they could get the best of both worlds

Even though I got very little use out of the PS4, Im still excited to see what they have to show.

Wonder if they’ll actually unveil the console? Black controller looks mint, so much better than that shitty white one. Looking forward to this and MS show as well.

@SolidGame_basic: No preference really. I am equally interested in both. Presently I play mostly on my X1X, but that’s because the games I currently play look and perform better on it than my Pro. I always buy both, and most likely will this time around too, so I genuinely want to see both doing well.

The controller is still white (dual tone actually). It just looks black because of the lighting. :(

Hopefully it won't be a sh*t show that MS did with first XSX gameplay reveal.

It's actually a white controller in that vid. That stated, the heavy emphasis on darkness tells me the console will be mostly black, if not all together. We'll see next week.

I'm going to have to see if I can take off from work early that day.

meaning they aren't showing the system or talking about a price at this event.. this is for games only.

Can't wait. Hopefully I'm blown away but I'm trying my hardest to keep my expectations somewhat low. These console leaps aren't what they used to be.

Their third party showing is not the same has their upcoming first partying showing in July.

There is a difference between believing there is a meltdown and one actually happening.

Which is why lemmings live endlessly trying to inflate that 18% GPU gap they have into 30% or more again using wishfull thinking and magic just like they pretended DX12 to close a 40% gap in power.

Hell if the PS5 is $400 and the xbox is $500 this will be really lol worthy here you have a 18% stronger machine with $100 higher price tag,this wasn't the case in 2013 all the contrary.

Irrelevant they advertise it as a gameplay show,in reality it was a trailer that would have take 5 minutes in E3 elongated into a much longer a boring show with hardly any gameplay.

Sony should top that shit without problem,and since they already know what went wrong with MS showing they will probably show TRUE gameplay which should be more than enough to beat MS shitty efforts,see the advantage of waiting out now for your opponent to go first?

I'm excited to tune into this and see what they reveal. I am really hoping for a new ratchet and clank or Jak and Daxter game, but either way I am just happy for the news on next gen.
