For context, the event would had happened at the same day as the George Floyd memorial, which would be considerably tasteless.

Understandable. There are bigger issues going on right now and for big companies they don't want to risk coming off insensitive carrying on with their business like nothing's wrong in this world.

That’s unfortunate but entirely understandable. It is only video games after all so nothing that’s really as important as what is currently going on.

Last night, and the night before that, there were cars on fire in my city. Upside-down cars on fire.

In other words, yeah, might not be the best time to show off games.

It makes sense to delay a game that needs half its audience to buy it in stores that happen to be closed.

It also makes sense to delay a promotional event that would be incredibly inappropriate if it happened during a certain time period.

This is so pathetic.. as a game company your best option is to exist outside of real life politics. I swear as a Sony fan the leftwing corporate schmucks are ruining the company. Their Japanese overlords need to reel them in.

There was a fair amount of people on twitter asking them to postpone the event due to whats going on right now in the U.S. Disappointing, but understandable at the same time, better to wait until all the riots die down.

Let's face it, the reveal would be totally overlooked with what's happening during the media crisis. Don't waste a reveal if no one's paying attention and its totally not the right time/place anyway.

I live in Atlanta GA and too many riots are still going on after what happen on last Friday.

And as a real-life company, your best option is to "read the room" and know discretion is the better part of valor. People's attention is elsewhere; holding an event on Thursday for a video game console would be as dumb as Sega surprise-launching the Saturn in the west.

Not to mention that they might also have employees directly or indirectly impacted by current events. It's a good move. I'm sure the same people mad at this are the same ones complaining about wearing masks in public.

This is a serious issue that is important, no matter who you are. Sony is doing a good move, and are even going to match donations. This is not a left or right issue, it's a basic decency issue.

Very true about the employees possibly being affected, and I apologize for looking at the "macro" picture first before mentioning the people.

I get that it's just a game system but it would have been nice to have something to look forward too. Now it's just watching the world burn. Oh well.

Plus with looting being a problem right now and Sony products at risk when people are breaking into places like Target, I think it's the best move Sony can do right now, both of company integrity but also to protect their own products.

It should be in the interest of other consumer companies to not be insensitive right now.

It is certainly a move to maintain company integrity, both internally and externally, but the products are not really important to them. Once a product is in shelves, the store has already paid for them. If a Sony TV or game system is destroyed in the riots, it is the store that is losing money, not Sony.

Matching donations to far left organizations that constantly race bait? Yes this is a political issue. People die every day in horrific ways. Somehow I only hear about it if it's a white person killing a black person.

Alot of the rioters are wearing mask.. I think it has less to do with Covid-19 and more to do with hiding their face after they commit crimes.

It's not about black vs white, it's about black vs systematic oppression. Who can black people call when a police officer murders them? Remember, calling out that the problem exists is not racism. Racism is letting it continue and complaining it gets brought up.

This is not a left vs right issue, unless people that want it to be make it one. Hint: Using the word "leftist" for a random act of decency is an example.

This is why the media has too much influence on people who believe everything they're told. The world is not burning, just a few police cars lol.

This idiocy will soon be long forgotten and back to business as usual before you know it.

@Willy105: Either way, it leads to protecting their image and assets they've sold across the market. Stores already paid their stocks sure, but Sony has the responsibility to maintain their image right now with company integrity and it can help prevent looting as it's been shown happening.

If a company came off insensitive right now that can aggravate people. It was the best move for Sony and other companies should take note.

they have to do it just right so no sensitive im going to cry like a baby type of people don't get defended. so sad the way my county the united states turned into a bunch of wussy people.

omg they shot a black guy how racist we are only allowed to shoot white people but then when we do that omg there is not enough black people in the game.

omg a straight character looked as his wife butt = im offensive (mean while females are becoming more insensitive about there looks well dah were not allowed to give our own wife a compliment because its offending) like days gone.

omg to many straight people in this game = your against gay people.

just do it sony it there will be plenty of utube videos for the people that miss after this. remember we live in a bubble around or phones now any ways.

I don't see why it's inappropriate. People die every day and funerals happen every day.

I get why they would delay if for safety concerns, but it's not inappropriate to have it on the same day as Floyd's memorial.

Don't confuse yourself with the average person. This is the biggest news story on the country. You'd have to be bubbled in with very specific feeds and news sources to think the way you do.

It makes sense to delay a game that needs half its audience to buy it in stores that happen to be closed.

It also makes sense to delay a promotional event that would be incredibly inappropriate if it happened during a certain time period.

I don't see why it's inappropriate. People die every day and funerals happen every day.

I get why they would delay if for safety concerns, but it's not inappropriate to have it on the same day as Floyd's memorial.

People do die everyday, but dying in that specific way? A way that demonstrates a really troubling and important issue that has been happening for over a century? This is not your every day death and funeral. It's the same reason Microsoft pulled Flight Simulator from shelves after 9/11.

For context, the event would had happened at the same day as the George Floyd memorial, which would be considerably tasteless.

I don't get it don't they want us to have something to make us happy to get through this hard time? not showing it is more bad news foe someone looking for good news in there life or excitement. sony quit promising me something and then go back on your word. next time don't tell me anything so i don't get disappointed again.

I'm not even trying to read the comments in this thread. All I have to say, is it's a good call. Games can wait.

they have to do it just right so no sensitive im going to cry like a baby type of people don't get defended. so sad the way my county the united states turned into a bunch of wussy people.

omg they shot a black guy how racist we are only allowed to shoot white people but then when we do that omg there is not enough black people in the game.

omg a straight character looked as his wife butt = im offensive (mean while females are becoming more insensitive about there looks well dah were not allowed to give our own wife a compliment because its offending) like days gone.

omg to many straight people in this game = your against gay people.

just do it sony it there will be plenty of utube videos for the people that miss after this. remember we live in a bubble around or phones now any ways.

On second thought, please go back to talking about SSDs and triangles.

Better to be stupid about irrelevant shit.

You really don't see how that is completely different?

Should all business postpone/cancel/shutdown for the day too? I mean, come on. It's up to Sony. So whatever. But calling it inappropriate is ridiculous.

Troubling issue? Please elaborate...

I guess this is when you go into the whites killing blacks argument?

In before sony is doom or scare post land.

If i was in their shoes, i wouldn't want to show games running on such underpowered hardware. I mean, who in their right mind releases a console at the end of 2020 with just 9,2tflops of power? Who does that?

omg when xbox shows the series s at 4 teraflops 2 less than xbox one x but no one understand teraflops are not the power of your system or total power of a gpu. one teraflop in the ps4 is not the same 1 teraflop in the ps5 because there is more to a gpu than just teraflops.

ask pc gamers that buy updated gpu and relize just because one gpu has more teraflops does not make more effective than another gpu that has less teraflop runs better because there is more to a gpu than just teraflops.
