And still in early access...

If this game doesn't actually release this year, there should be an exception for GOTY. There is no game as tense and fun as PUBG. The craze is for real obviously. The game should be considered a GOTY 2017 contender.
That's really great. The game is blowing up on Twitch and Youtube so its bound to sell well especially with the upcoming console release.
Have fun playing Playerunknowns MEME Battleground.
Shitty survival deathmatch game.
It's less memes, and more teenagers screaming racial slurs
set it to team chat, problem solved..cramming 100 people into a server you can expect a couple morons to be in there
I really don't get the appeal of this game? It looks like something from 2006?
There isn't anything quite like this out there. It being unique creates a lot of buzz.

Well, most PC gamers have shitty PCs so they have to buy outdated early access stuff and claim that it's awesome. Horrible visuals, clunky animations and all in all a bug infested mess. And afterwards they go on gaming forums and ramble about how they could never stand to play console games because of their graphics.
So did the game flop and are those bad sales or is that a great sales figure?
I have read on this forum that games on PS4 like Uncharted 4 with sales of 2 to 8 million are bad because the player base is 60mil. Since PC has a player base of over 150 mil (being modest) doesn't that mean the sales are bad? This is kind of weird to see this not mentioned when everyone knows PC has the biggest user base.
It looks like people here are praising the sales for this PC game when user base is 3x that of PS4 but I always see people bring up the player base and say if games don't sell a certain percent of the user base the sales are bad; so is 4 mil good sales for this PC game simply because of the the units sold or are sales bad because they're a minuscule percent of the overall user base?
I mean, NO ONE here has brought up the player base argument for this PC game and I've honestly seen it in EVERY sales thread related to PS4 games, to be honest I've never seen it used with and xbox games either but that may be because MS is kind of unclear about game sales this generation.
I guess my question is, is the player base argument a real stance for judging if a game has good sales or is it just selectively used only for consoles or is it just for judging PS4?
I usually have a good understanding of how people's arguments work in here, but I've never seen anyone mention this discrepancy about sales, good or bad, so I'd like to get a lil clarification.
@lexxluger: lol
It's just an observation, and I'm assuming you've noticed this as well?, but it is really an odd phenomenon I've seen in discussions (PS4) and totally absent from others so I guess it is kind of funny but I wanted to ask.
To be completely transparent, I have seen people bring up player base with Nintendo Switch game sales as well...but usually only in conjunction with an attachment argument of how bad PS4 game sales are in comparison using the player base as the determining factor but never other platforms.
@lexxluger:
Yep, everyone over 12 years of age sees it.
This forum is Logic Man's arch nemesis!
:p
Edit: BTW you'll get an answer in the line of something about it being early access (so it doesn't count) or 100 million of those users use excel at work (except when needed to grow particular user base numbers)

Your not wrong.
But still, 200+ sony studio first party game with barely any worthwhile gameplay not selling as much as an indie originally 1 man modder is priceless.
Despite what cows believe, ultimately gameplay decides the prestige of a game. games like Uncharted, Horizons and their ilk... will be that cheap hollywood blockbuster that will age poorly.
@lexxluger: Well UC4 probably cost at least 20 million to develop and has hundreds more employee's working on it. Do you think Bluehole inc who has two free to play games on steam have nearly the budget, staff or advertisements of Naughty Dog? When it comes to console the profit % over the cost to make it will surpass UC4 if it hasn't done so already.
Take this as a good sign. For many years it's been a case of gaming media kissing the rear end of publishers with the biggest money and purely console centric titles with pc wholly ignored unless it's a Blizzard title. Here's another pc game that had practically no coverage making a killing.
@uninspiredcup: Giant Bomb has been covering it and hyping it a ton for months now. Maybe you are looking in the wrong places?

What does budget have to do with I am talking about?
How does this specific developer change the dynamic of the question I asked which can apply to any game released on PC with that user base argument?
I'm not talking about profit margins, nor have I said anything in my original post what would lead you to go off in that direction.
And...you still didn't answer my original question of if the user base argument applies or other platforms other than PS4 which would make these sales bad for PC user base, or is this an argument specifically designed only to target PS4 game sales?

You asked if its a great sales figure..... Im just going to say yes this time.
Really looking forward to this on Xbox One
4k/60fps goodness coming to The One X.
Well said.

This game barely hits 60fps at 1080p on a good PC...

The fact I'm having to look is an indictment in itself.

If you want to argue from the user base angle, PC player base is diluted across much, much more games. So when a game sells the same or bigger figures than a flavor of the month exclusive from Sony it is a bigger deal.
It means it pulled the players that didn't give a shit about it from other games to make a killing, as opposed to something like Uncharted that every PS owner will buy no questions asked.
