Without much fuss or this spec or that movie exclusive

Simple:

Purchase FIFA and Madden brands

With exclusive FIFA sony will be dead in EU

I dont know how strong is Madden in US but I imagine same situation

People would buy Xbones for FIFA and Madden sure,

but PS4s would still sell, and people will buy this exclusive FIFA/madden box as a secondary console.

The reasons to purchase a PS4 are still there.

So FIFA/Madden can justify a console for 1 game only?

15 million people would buy 2 consoles in EU?

I'm not saying everyone would do that.

I'm saying that in your hypothesis, I would not put Sony out of business, because people will still have reasons to purchase playstations.

And if they are dying to play FIFA/Madden they will find ways to do so.

I seriously doubt that if a wave of sales started from day 1 things would look dire for the PS4

The chain effect essentially

no, that'd cost way too much money, and those games cost a lot of money to license too, they'd have to stay multiplatform to be even worth it to begin with

they could spend that money funding more exclusives to the point it'd look like a one sided fight, that'd be a better strategy, and they could do it at just a fraction of the cost of what the OP wants

No amount of uncharteds or LoUs can touch even fifa alone

And MS lost far more money on xbone failiure

as they say in business you must spend money to make money

It's easy to win if all you have to do is burn money. Sadly that's not how the real world works.

What a stupid topic. Sony domination is driving some of you insane. Also the NFL will never let their game be exclusive even if this pipe dream was possible.

LOL at muscling out the competition that is whipping your ass 2:1 and growing.

Keeping dreaming and also showing how naive you are. But to poke fun at you how pathetic is Microsoft to let a company they could buy so easily dominate them so thoroughly? I guess they are used to being dominated by Apple and Google as well so it is nothing unusual.

p.s. Microsoft can't buy shit that that has anything to do with Sony(or Nintendo)

You do realize that the NFL and FIFA would take MS to court to end their contracts for exclusivity, right?

The lost revenue in software sales would easily be proven as a material loss. Fanboys and their wet dreams. Always a good laugh.

Desperation makes people say crazy things. It's clear that Xbox has lost to PlayStation more than likely permanently so now the crazy talk is starting again. Reminds of the months leading up launch when Microsoft was going to buy all the big 3rd party IPs....

Why anyone would want Sony out of the console business is beyond me - competition is so important. All the cool stuff MS has done with the XBOX, the sweet bundles, the pro-consumer reversals from certain unpopular strategies... these were all encouraged by PS4s existing and selling. Of course one console will always take a lead in a generation, but that's very different from it being the only console on the market, and surely even the most dedicated brand fans should be able to see that

indeed the fact that we don't have a third player in the hardcore gaming market (no nintendo doesn't matter atm, they lack multiplat support) is bad for us gamers. I think the release of the ps4 and xboxone and now the release of scorpio and neo is the biggest example of that. Had nintendo released the wii u sooner , or a much more powerfull wii u in 2012, we wouldn't have these weaksauce consoles this gen.

If Xbox making Madden exclusive would open the door for new NFL 2K then I am all for it. I'm done with all EA Sports crap games. NFL 2K would kill Madden like NBA 2K killed NBA Live. EA will do anything they can to keep that license exclusive, but I hope they lose those rights soon.

I would agree, but the thing is this. Madden does suck actually i can care less for sports games period now. I used to love them though. NFL 2k5 was the best football game by far. After taking off some years they came out with this all pro football 2k8 and it sucked major balls. I think 2k5 was a fluke

Competition has always been a good thing for the consumer. Why wipe someone out? If you don't like them, just don't support them.

More ways to muscle out Sony

  • Good Exclusives
  • Actual Exclusives
  • More variety of genres
  • Less shooters
  • More Exclusives
  • Better PR representative

I don't think any of the big three could muscle out each other out of business. It's not really about what their competitors do, its about what they do and it's their own doing that can mean success or failure. Sony's failures with the PS3 made sure the Xbox brand is here to stay. But despite the failures, the trinity current console gaming companies are too successful to go out of business anytime soon or even a couple of gens to come unless they bow out themselves.

Sony could be muscled out. But it would be hard. The real challenge would be to find a way to woo Japanese 3rd party support away from Sony. Which would also mean being a seller in Japan. It would be very difficult to do it. Could that plan hurt Sony in EU? Absolutely. But it won't hurt Sony where they are strongest, which is Japanese 3rd party support.

@True_Gamer_: Guess you never got the memo. What would that do when all of M$ games are going to PC anyway. If anyone cared they could just get it on PC. Would have very little effect on PS4. Try harder next time.

Not here in germany. PS4 would sell less than XBOX One. Nobody of my friends would buy a PS4 if it hasn't has FIFA on it.

yup, this.

At least sony isnt afraid to take risks, If it wasnt for them we wouldnt have all these great new diverse IP's.

M$ doesnt have a creative bone in their body. All this money they have and what do they do with it? Rather then making new IP's like sony they buy timed exclusives and buy stupid shit like the rights to Minecraft, smh.

No, sony should stay. M$ should GTFO.

MS's shareholders and board member's wouldn't let MS buy anything that expensive. They are done spending billions on companies after the whole Nokia failure. The new strategy for them is to slim down and streamline everything into a windows environment.

The people in charge at MS aren't stupid. Apple and Google are a threat to Windows and they have to stay competitive with them. PC's and laptops are a shrinking market and it won't sustain MS forever and they know it.

Don't hope for any game publisher and especially a console manufacturer to go out of business. You may just get what you wish for and that would be a very dark day in gaming, especially for the console fans, regardless of their faction affiliation.

See EA Sports for that. Madden and Fifa are great at offline multiple player. That removes PC. EA doesnt like to put their games on Nintendo systems. Nintendo should make their own Football and Soccer games. Surprised they havent already. EA doesnt own football they just own the NFL license.
