Poll PC Gamers which controller BRAND is your MAIN and most used OVERALL on your PC?! (Console only gamers click last option) (77 votes)

PlayStation (PS5 DualSense / PS4 Dual Shock) 22%
Xbox (X-Series Controller / XB1 / Xbox Elite) 58%
Nintendo (Switch Pro Controller / SNES / NES Controller) 5%
Steam (Steam Controller) 5%
3rd Party Controller (8-BitDo / Scuf) 5%
I'm a console only gamer and want to see the results. 4%

This should put the nail in the coffin and finish this debate once in for all which brand makes the best controllers.

I trust PC gamers to choose the best controller overall while gaming on PC because they have access to all of them.

So which brand is your main PC gamers? Lets do this!

I want to know what PC gamers are using as their mains for over 50% of their gaming time and what the most used controller on PC is on system wars.

I don't care if you prefer one in certain scenarios which one do you spend the most time with gaming on PC.

For me I gravitate towards the dual shock 4 as my current main. I can control my LED light, and the touch bar I can use as a trackpad while in my chair without picking up a mouse is super handy. (haven't tried the steam controller yet not sure how that one stacks up to dual shock 4's)

Anyway that's me what is yours? Explain your main.

Steam.

It's one of the best controllers, if you can get used to it. It is certainly a bit different to interface with, though, and that's for sure.

But I'm a big fan of the 360 controller as well. Simple and straight forward.

Steam controller and Retro-Bit Saturn pad for retro titles.

Quite sad Valve appeared to have abandoned the Steam Controller.

Guess I can always pay X6 the price on Ebay from scalper. Nawt.

Well, M&K 75% of my PC gaming. But...

Steam controller for all-around and gyro aiming

X1 controller for racing games and ones that require dual analog

Retrobit 6 button Genesis controller for platformers and games that need a functional d-pad

Really dude wow ok I really like the DS4 its way weightier than the DS3 which felt like a feather and didn't have rumble or touchbar or anything important think mine broke from a single fall. DS4 built much more tankier and has more buttons than PS3. You must really hate the PS3 one right?

DS3 was even worse.

DualSense is the first Sony controller worth even talking about. Everything else they've made were just abominations.

My PC gaming time has gone down a lot since getting the PS5. I'm pretty happy with the visuals and will hold off on any PC upgrades for now. In the past, I was using Xbox controllers but that was mostly out of habit. The DualSense is superior than the X1 controller in my opinion. I haven't tried the new Elite controller but I'm pretty happy with DS and will stick with that.

Most of my play time is mkb or arcade stick.

My go-to standard controller for the past year has been the Elite 2. Before that, the 360 pad. Not some hard preference for Xbox controllers or anything. Just had a bad run of luck with two DS4s failing back to back and said screw it.

Grabbed a DualSense as soon as they were available, great controller, but went back to the Elite 2 for the customization and paddles.

Occasionally bust out the Saturn pad, not a must, but it's nice.

All these modern controllers are fine, the minor differences don't even register to me while playing.

Playstation 4 controller for me. I have one of the ever elusive USB adapters for PC and it is seamless and easy. Sony should make one for the PS5 controller as well. I also use the back button attachment, which should have been released long before they made it.

For shooters, I still use my keyboard and mouse for obvious reasons.

Fighting games get a mix of my arcade stick or sometimes even my keyboard, depending on the game

@BassMan: The Gravis Gamepad Pro was great too, before they screwed up with wonky products like the Xterminator which required constant recalibration and had poor support. The Pro was IMO the last good gamepad to work with the standard joystick interface and not require special DOS drivers.

One good thing MS did was standardize gamepads under Windows but it took an extremely long time. The changeover didn't happen overnight either and there were still problems for a while. There was a long period where just getting a gamepad to properly map was a huge PITA, especially more than one analog stick and analog buttons was really hit or miss whether they would work properly or even be detected.

Steam makes configuring this so easy even on games without proper support.

Yeah, I had Gravis Gamepad Pro as well. I replaced it with Logitech Wingman Rumble Pad and then that was replaced when they introduced XInput and I have been using Xbox controllers ever since. I also have the PS controllers, but they require DS4Windows for the best support. It is not bad though. A lot better than having to map mouse and keyboard inputs to the controller with JoyToKey. :)

I actually went through two Gamepad Pro controllers. They were excellent when they worked, but they are not very durable at all, which is not a surprise given the price.
I wish Sony would make more of the USB adapters for PC/Mac and also make them work for PS5 controllers. Those are the best, but now way too expensive to get a used one.

I've mainly used the Switch Pro Controller, which feels great and has an excellent battery life.

Still, I *should* try my Steam Controller again. I haven't really used it for any action-heavy games.

I'd say that the Xbox elite is one of the best controllers out there if you are used to it, mostly due to its extra buttons and all, but any controller would be fine. I've never played on PC with a controller, trying to be objective here.

It is a cut above the PS4 controller for sure. Sony should make back button attachments for it like they did for the PS4 controller and also a USB wireless adapter for PC/Mac.
Also they need to fix the problem with drift, although this seems to be a problem with all 3 of the newest consoles for some stupid reason.

Why would this prove anything when MS makes Xbox branded controllers that are specifically for the PC...

Just use whatever you want. It's that simple.

My most used now is my Retrobit 8 button Genesis controller since I do a lot of retro gaming. My second most used is my PS3 Move Navigation controller that I use in my left hand with a mouse in my right hand when I play most modern and FPS style games. After that then it's probably the Switch Pro, although I have been using an Exlene wireless Gamecube controller, which is basically a Switch Pro controller in Gamecube format, for things where I need a fully featured analog controller.

I flip back and forth between a 360-era Gamepad and a PS4 Dualshock or whatever its called.

if I'm using a controller at my PC I usually use the Dualshock, if I'm on the TV and I need a wireless controller, I use the Gamepad (the Dualshock needs to be connected by USB to work on PC).

I have a small preference for the Dualshock overall but both are good IMO.

A black, wired, Xbox 360 controller. Had it over 10 years and works like new, no issues whatsoever. I have no desire to purchase an expensive gamepad - all they do is add unnecessary features that break in a year or two.

Mainly the Xbox One controller and the Steam controller for games better suited for mouse and keyboard
