There was a 360 version of KOTOR? I thought it was on the original Xbox.

Anyway, it's just easier to fire it up on my PC/laptop. They aren't hard games to run. KOTOR 2 even got an official update not too long ago (last year?) that fixed a lot of bugs and restored cut content, if I'm not mistaken.

Just curious, will you Xbox fans be able to get any DLC for the original Xbox? Like KOTOR DLC: Yavin station at the very least?

There was never a KOTOR 360 remaster version but however, you can play KOTOR on the Xbox 360 since the 360 supported BC to original Xbox.

Most likely due to direct rendering at higher resolution without the need to rework the assets, which would require additional licenses and approval.

Like running an emulator on PC.

Widescreen and UI fixes would require additional patches or work from the developer cant cant be done in the emulator, not universally anyway.

Very nice considering I only expected almost no graphical differences, minor things such as improved framerate but wasn't expecting this. Wonder how Ninja Gaiden will look on the XOneX now

So does Pong, Pac Man and Tetris but those games are classics so it's not fair to put that much pressure on Crackdown 3 when MS only put $3.23 on it's development budget :P

No one should play this on the console. Just get the GoG version. It's cheap and practically any PC/Laptop can run this game. You also have mods and whatnot available to you.

@pinkanimal: OK I googled Crackdown 3 and now I understand why OP was so impressed with a 4k KOTOR, that game was GARBAGE. The only redeeming quality about it was that the trailer featured Terry Crews.

@Dark_sageX: no, we are supposed to be impressed that Microsoft is letting us play games we bought ten+ years ago in 4k or even 1080 for free. As a ps4 owner, I wish Sony would do the same.

PC version of this game is broken, this is still the best way to play it.

It's not "true 4K" because the game renders in 4:3 aspect ratio. Not because the X1X can't hack it

It shows Xbox is just Windows DirectX box. Wintel PC's 3rd party Direct3D DLL API call intercept method can reach similar result.

There's no need for a full machine Wii/PS3 style emulation for OG Xbox on Xbox One.

Both OG Xbox and Xbox One are X86/Direct3D based machines, but a minor translation layer is needed for NVIDIA NV2A specific calls.

With respect to resource tracking, Direct3D was designed to scale with higher grade hardware. Resource tracking is important since different hardware levels can have different resource arrival times. Direct3D API removes the need for classic PC's turbo button.

I doubt you're going to see a difference with KOTOR between 720p 1080p and 4k. I've played the xbox version in 720p. Yeah it was a step up from 480p but the difference wasn't major. I think anything above 720p and you're not going to notice much. The biggest difference I've seen in KOTOR was 720p on PC at 60fps. If you want the definitive KOTOR experience go with PC.

Their are some games that didn't age well (graphic wise) , and KOTR is one of them. Not sure how 4k is going ot make it look even better :(

well, I wil say that I'm glad to see Crimson Skies on the list, one of my favorite games on the OG xbox along with Jet Grind :)

Solid news to hear for those who’ve been looking forward to playing some original Xbox titles. Crimson Skies will probably be the first game I try out. Hoping for Jet Set Radio to make landfall in the next batch of Xbox titles.

Normally, that pic would be accurate, but Kotors mouse and keyboard controls were notoriously bad, it was the main complaint when it was released. The Xbox version was praised for fixing them. (And later mods fixed the PC version and added gamepad support)

Yep it also never felt as epic playing on the PC, this is really a console experience.
