Not an April Fool's: 'Borderlands 3' exclusive to Epic Games Store

I know there had been talk about it, but with some uncertainty due to the original tweet's deletion and the April 1 "holiday."

Tencent is a major share holder in Epic Games and a lot of companies do business with and rely on Tencent out of necessity to access the Chinese gaming market; Take Two being one of them. I personally do not believe it is wholly coincidence.

@vagrantsnow:There was going to be a F2P version Of Borderlands for China but 2K shutdown their Chinese studio division working on the game. There is also a Chinese F2P version of NBA 2K.

The Chinese government is still being pretty strict on their game freeze so it probably isn't a smart decision to partner with them to officially get their published there. They'd be better off operating the gray market of Steam. From the steamspy charts Borderlands 2 ranked 25 in China as one of the most played and bought games in 2017.

meanwhile Rage 2 is coming to steam. so that going to be much better in every way too.

Thank god they didn't announce another Brothers in Arms or Homeworld then, I'd actually be pissed :O

If Epic actually works on cross-play, I just might start using the Epic Store. Until then, the boycott continues.

Though I can agree with his sentiments to an extent. I don't like exclusives simply out of principle and that will never change, but if they are timed to <1 year, I can stomach that.

With that said, I fail to see what "advantages" he is referring to.

Still, would be nice to play Borderlands 3 (and other titles) on PC with my friends on Xbox/PS4. Games like that, imo, are only fun with friends. Otherwise they're boring.

Will just get the GOTY for sub $10 like the other Borderlands games, so whatever.

Waiting makes me able to get the game on the platform I want, and for a cheaper price. So I guess the game has +1 year to release for reals.

I like the Borderlands series, I got every entry day 1. But I am not willing to use the Epic Store. So I'll wait until I get a cheap version with all DLC. They just lost 50+ bucks (I usually get DLC as well) from me.

Meh... More borderlands... Meh.

Guess I'll have to buy it from the Epic Store if it ain't on Steam day one.
