As it covers there console and handheld market, its pretty bad actually.
It's bad because you don't like it? Why do you think it's selling so much? Could it be you are flat wrong? No, it must be that anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot.
Where did i say u are a idiot if you disagree with me? Making stuff up or something? U took your vitamins today bro? anyway if you don't like me for whatever reason on a personal level u are free to ignore me, no reason to get upset. I am just pixels.
Anyway to explain it a bit further.
There last successful gen was 150m consoles and 150m handhelds. Last sony's somewhat successful gen was PS3 with 90m consoles and a PSP with 70m sales.
Those are 300 million devices for nintendo and 160 million for sony.
Both PSP and PS3 weren't much seen as successful against the generations before it, the gen after it for nintendo was a complete disaster and they still ended up selling 80m combined devices or even 85m forgot the exact numbers.
The switch is now 2,5 years on the market, sold what google told me 33 million, lets say it stays valid for 7+ years. that's 100m total. That's not even as much as a single device in a area that had far far less gamers. As the gamer market is booming every single year forwards.
So how exactly is this impressive? It's actually pretty bad. It's 1/3th of the market they had then. It's not even as big as a some failed gen for sony.
PS4 is so called a massive success by anybody, but even that box is getting replaced next year and just now passed 100m. It's coming nowhere near there 160 and 150m devices sold.
Then lets not even talk about xbox what a disaster that is.
It's not just nintendo that's in rough water, its also sony and microsoft. It's the whole handheld/console market. This is why subscription services are aggressively pushed because that's what keeps them afloat that's what helps them with the struggle on hardware sales but low amounts of hardware sold equals low amounts of subscriptions also as u limit your market by the amount u sell.
As this topic is about hardware and not software and there market shares. The switch should be selling far far more then it currently does to be called impressive.
