Nintendo..

What interests me the most right now is Nintendo. In that they have absolutely NO announced first party game in development currently.

Seriously, look at this:

• Star Fox U- outsourced to Platinum
• Metroid Prime Federation Force- outsourced to Next Level Games
• Xenoblade Chronicles X- finished development, currently being localized
• Fire Emblem Fates- finished development, currently being localized
• Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem- outsourced to Atlus
• Pokken Tournament- outsourced to Namco Bandai
• Hyrule Warriors Legends- outsourced to Tecmo Koei
• Animal Crossing Amiibo Party- completed development
• Mario Tennis Ultra Smash- completed development

There is one exception to this- Zelda. Zelda I guess is the one internally developed Nintendo game still not out, but Zelda here is a special case- and I think we can all guess why.

So, I present to you my question- literally none of Nintendo is actually developing anything that we know of right now. Why do you think that is?

EDIT: There are also these two games:

• Pikmin 4- platform unknown, apparently nearing completion of development
• Mario and Luigi Paper Jam- development completing in November

NX megatons! :D

Or Android/iOS tears! :(

They're highly incompetent when it comes to making use of good hardware.

So I would guess they'd suck at making the last games for the Wii U and are learning how to make games for the NX.

either they are all working on NX titles to release the best launch line up ever (so good that even if there was only the launch lineup it would still be worth getting an NX(s)).

or they all decided to take it easy, shut down most internal development and farm IP out to small 3rd party developers. meanwhile they are working on paper sculptures or art with beans or something.

this is nintendo we are talking about. so neither, either or both could be true :P.

I have hope for a couple of those titles, but the games have been a little lackluster recently. Nothing terrible, but nothing that is really that great with the exception of Mario Maker.

Kudos for never missing a chance to bash Nintendo.

It's clear they moved on to their next platform.

I really have them to thank for always failing.

They've abandoned the Wii-U and attempting to save face with the NX's release. That would be my best guess anyway. Either that or they have a sudden craving for failure.

I don't see a problem.

Harada will make a game where Psyduck will kill all the Pokemon.

Pikmin 4 is... mentioned, as a game that has completed development (and yet we have seen nothing of it). I am, understandably enough, hesitant to list it.

Nintendo used to outsource their game.

Most studious are preparing for NX.

The change of CO was unexpected,new CO is not from game develop department,they struggle a bit.

Nintendo was trying to integrate handheld and console develop teams,they struggle too.

Hope the NX could get as many 3rd support as possible.

Yeah must be focusing on NX.

I imagine a lot of manpower is getting transferred to the nx, but it seems like Nintendo has well and truly given up on the Wii U long before it maybe should have

Aww yeah, it's because they're gonna bring out that powerful hardware and blow us away with bomb drop after bomb drop! We can hope anyway.

The question is, is Pikmin 4 on NX or Wii U?

NX is coming out at the end of 2016, probably why.

I don't even know how people still trust Nintendo with a new console after the Wii U.

But yeah, Nintendo stated they are focusing on 2015. Im sure they got a few cooking. They always do.

What's there for 2015? Nothing! Only Xenoblade Chronicle X!

Didn't development drop off for the wii aswell, and we still saw the wii U have a slow start, so having wii u development drop off doesn't necessarily guarantee a strong start for the NX.

Nintendo has moved on to NX, Wii U is kaput whether fans like it or not...just wait till next year.. you can be sure games will be announce & it will be on NX & not Wii U. :P

@superbuuman: Actually, i think we will get both. Wii U get games and then NX get some powerful games. Ill be buying an NX though, the thought of playing some of my favorite PC games on a Nintendo console has me craving one.

But this will be the first time ever i wont be buying a Sony system, i always buy it after Nintendo, but ill be skipping because of NX and PS4s online policies.

NX is dropping next year with a boat load of games. If nintendo is doing this right they could stake their claim to thrown next year.

Will also be funny if NX beats PS4 and Xbox One in sales. Will be hard, but it can happen with Nintendo.

@Gue1: the exact same thing happened with the Wii in 2009 2010, Nintendo totally abandoned it. Coolyfett doesnt see the NX having a disc drive either. Cartridge will be king. 3rd Parties will not return to Nintendo, at least not the ones in bed with SCE and Xbox. The NX will be another science project like the Wii U and the Wii before it. Nintendo needs ALL their 1st parties right now, From Duck Hunt to Metroid to Punch Out. Every brand or franchise they own needs a game released before Dec 2017. Nintendo is a funny company.

??? Some epic games came out after 2009-2010 for the Wii.

Wii and DS development never dropped off to this degree, and actually directly fed into 3DS development, as Nintendo got all hands on deck to help it recover from its disastrous launch.

@mesome713: Actually hope Nintendo will go all out on the NX, they need to..if they plan to release it next year. Whether I get NX at launch will depend on how Nintendo present it. I am in no rush to get PS4 either. :P

First: Nintendo has so many IP's, they should allow other companies to work on them.

Seriously though, if I were a big company, with millions or billions in the bank (I forget which one), why wouldn't I outsource my projects to more experienced developers??

@superbuuman: Nintendo could be in 2nd place, but they have to make the best of their first parties, any fan of Nintendo should want and expect Nintendo 1st parties to compete with the 3rd parties that dumped them. Nintendos should create their own version of gaming hits and stopping chasing 3rd parties that dont see a relationship with them.

Kirbys Return to Dreamland, Xenoblade Chronicles, Skyward Sword, and The Last Story, some of my favorite Wii games came late in the consoles life. And lets not forget that this is year 6-7 in Wiis life, which is insane for a Nintendo console.

That gen lasted way to long and Nintendo should have released Wii U way earlier in my opinion.

@mesome713: games are still coming out for the PSP and PS3....and this topic is about Nintendo not coming out with games. Even after the NX hits the market, Nintendo games for Wii U and 3DS should never stop. They dont transition right, when they have a new system on the way, they just drop the old one in a snap. Their handhelds transition well but Gamecube to Wii to Wii U they just drop previous systems and leave Nintendo gamers waiting.

@Coolyfett: I would hope so, i just bought a new system, i dont want them releasing games for my old system. I want as many Nintendo games as i can get for my new system, otherwise i would have just stayed on the old one.

And Sony dont release many games for them old systems, they dont even release games on the Vita.

1. Halo 5, 8/10. Sticky needs to be updated soon.

2. At least Nintendo is releasing games. Yoshi, Xenoblade, Fatal frame, Mario Tennis, Mario Maker, Splatoon, etc. For the Aug to Dec date, that's not a complete train wreck.

Hopefully the NX will have a wonderful launch and have plenty of strong 3rd party support.

Your list is about announced games that are in development. Miyamoto said it's very close to finished. So yeah, it's an announced game in development.
