NieR: Automata shipments and digital sales passed one million

Square Enix announced today that NieR: Automata has exceeded one million in worldwide shipment and digital sales since its launch last month on PlayStation 4 and PC , according to SteamSpy the game already sold more 200K on steam

Whenever I visit the Steam forums for this game, almost everyone seems fixated on the main character's ass.

This is great news. People need to start supporting great JRPG titles again instead of trash like FFXV. FF shouldn't be the one selling 6 million + when there is way better content out there.

I got the game on Steam but I haven't install it yet due to Horizon, Breath of the Wild, and now Persona 5 are stealing my gameplay time.

Nier Automata came out at a bad time. It releaded in the mist of Horizon, Zelda, Mass Effect Andromeda. Suprised it sold this much.

Aside from the lousy side questing that pads out and reuses areas. Yeah, it's pretty good so far. It's abit on the easy and forgiving side even on hard because the health system is such a cut below what Platinum usually offer. Combat is nice with whats there and largely varies on the enemy you're up against. But the way it subverts it every now and then with perspectives to apply focus on a certain challenge in critical plot points keeps things quite fresh.

The main character has an awesome ass that shows a lot of the time. It's hard to deny.

Na but the game's excellent. I'm 25 hours in, which I guess is like half of the content, and if you're willing to get past the idea that it's super weird and anime as hell it's a ton of fun. It has an interesting combat system with surprising depth, sound design that's nothing short of brilliant, and so far the story has been awesome. Sidequests are the only real downer, they get super tedious and fetchy especially before you unlock fast travel.

I guess good news for this multiplatform game, but it's pretty common knowledge that most of the time multiplatform games will likely sell better than exclusive especially when digital & physical sales numbers are combined.

Well, it's not deformed big eyed anime girls.

Some real life anime cosplayer (i.e. young women with fine facial features) can nearly duplicate the appearance from the CG version.

Agree with pretty much everyone's reviews of this game. I personally enjoyed it a lot, as I connected with the characters quickly and found the story to be highly engaging with it's unique format and twists. I love the gameplay-story integration segments and how replayable this game can be.

Disappointed slightly with the sidequests though. Most of them are boring fetch quests that don't develop the characters or world very much, but some of them are pretty cool and the extra bosses (I won't spoil it, for those who don't want to know) can be pretty exciting. Unless something else beats it, so far this has been game of the year for me. Just a completely different gaming experience unlike any other, reminiscent of that feeling I got when I played FF7 or MGS2 for the first time.

That's awesome, I love this game and it definitely deserves the sales. I'm on my third playthrough and if it wasn't for Persona 5, I would be playing it right now!
