One of the heaviest arguments on SW these days is GeOW vs Zelda TP for GOTY. I entered one of these threads a few days ago and the thread creator, I can't recall his username, disgusted me by blindly saying how overrated GeOW is and how amazing Zelda TP is going to be and how it will completely destroy GeOW. Before I go on any further let me say that I believe that Zelda TP is in the 9 range guaranteed, and the same for GeOW. I believe that both games will be great ones that we'll all be playing for years to come, however I do NOT believe that Zelda TP's score for the Wii will surpass GeOW's score for the 360 (please hold your flames..).

I was sick of the bashing of such an obviously astounding game from the Zelda TP fans so I decided to take a stand on behalf of all GeOW fans, a stand that could cost me my privileges at the gamespot forums forever. When the thread creator created his topic he stated if GeOW surpassed Zelda TP’s score then he would leave the forums, so to make it interesting, I made the reverse bet…this is exactly what I said:

 

“ill make a deal with you buddy, if Zelda TP for the wii gets a higher
score than GeOW by gamespot I WILLL LEAVE the forums forever.”

Now I can either become the biggest (you know what) in the forums, or be known as a prophet :O … ok maybe not but I’d be on the better end of this.. ;) I still stand 100% firm in my decision, and if it came down to where Zelda TP gets a better score than GeOW I would stay true to my promise and leave the gamespot forums forever happily, which I highly doubt will happen. Do I think the person I made this bet with will keep his end of the bargain if he loses? Probably not, unless he wants to post here and say otherwise.

Call me brave, call me a fool, call me a brave fool…it makes no difference. The bets have been placed.

 I really wish you wouldn't do this.  I don't know any of your other posts, but judging by this one, you seem to be a pretty good guy (at least in your pick of games and use of the English language).  Gamespot is already greatly lacking in that, why would you want to possibly make it worse?

anyways i understand that Zelda has had successful games, but still it has flopped, i.e majoras mask. I too think zelda will do well, i just don't agree with nintendo fans proclaiming it to be goty, when its not even out.

GeoW full replay value will be less than 100 hours combined [SP,SP Co-op, MP]. The massive size, high expectancy and sheer quality TP will have will easily beat out GeoW. GeoW is not the second coming and is nowhere near it. It is going to be a shooter, a generic shooter that only people who enjoy shooters will play. TP on the other hand will be picked up by everyone who likes games for games and probably by a lot of people who have never played a game before in their lives.

GeoW is going to be a great game but it is not comparable to TP. What lemmings do not understand about that I do not know. Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Assassin's Creed and Halo 3 will all be better games than GeoW and they are all coming within the next 5-10 months [as far as we know].

This is a riot. I can't wait for the reviews to come out. The problem here is that Gears looks great, but lacks substence, where as TP looks great and has 100+ hours of substence. I would have to bet that TP will get the higher rating. FPSers as a whole are very overused where as fantasy adventures are not. Almost every Zelda game ever created has either recieved GOTY or best game ever. This is a serious resume that Gears has to compete with. Gears pretty much has to be better than Halo, Resistance, UT and Doom at the same time in order to beat TP and I just don't see that at all. Either way, someone is leaving SW forever. Chickgamer
