Well, I do give MS credit. Not everyone admits when they've done wrong. So, kudos for that. Going forward hopefully they'll be more honest to gamers. Not a good way to start the new gen.
I think "dishonest" is a stretch but good ti see then acknowledge the mistake.
They were on such a roll, mistep was bound to happen
Hopefully they get the next one right
Well, they knowingly set the wrong expectations. How is that not dishonest? It's not like they didn't know how much they were hyping for so little in terms of gameplay.
@subspecies: Reread what wrote snd see if thst makes any sense.
ANY consumer electronic company KNOWINGLY setting the wrong expectation?
Have you ever run a business? Developed software?
Thst is an insane thing to do as there is no upside.
You are confusing PR with a purposeful intent to mislead.
The industry has been struggling with the definition of "gameplay" for over a decade because developers have a different definition than gamers. This is why they started using "in engine", which is just more PR BS.

PR BS does not equal dishonesty.
If it does, then every company lies to you.
It was a terrible show, they apologized.
That's a lot of words for what essentially boils down to MS being dishonest.
Well personally I didn’t think that it was really all that bad myself as I liked a good amount of what was shown but kudos to them for addressing the situation right away.
I also think Ubisoft deserves some of the blame as well...like what was up with that trailer for Valhalla...lol. The games shown weren't the problem. Some of them looked interesting to me and I'll probably check out when it hits on PC. We also knew beforehand that Microsoft was dedicating this to 3rd party titles and 1st party titles would be in July.
The issue was only a few titles actually showed gameplay while the rest was just fluff bullshit. I was expecting every game shown to be actual gameplay, let me see how the game runs on the hardware, how the HUD looks, animations, etc. Only a few titles did that. It was misleading.
Honestly, if Sony wants to deal a deathblow to Microsoft - suprise event next week. Show the PS5 and then some gameplay trailers next gen with an exclusive or 2 and it's K.O.
@subspecies: ms acknowledged peoples opinions and spoke up about it being on them..
Sony deletes comments, then close comments completely when gamers react negatively.
They did that because of trolls and, people spoiling TLOU2. I'm sorry but, Sony has a right to protect fans who are interested in their games and, don't want to be exposed to nonsense and, baseless aggressions.

He knows that. He's just trying to save face for MS.
@Nonstop-Madness: So it would have been preferable to for for ms to disable comments and trolls using words like "dishonest" instead of admitting they didnt live up to what was expected?
My point was ms didnt deliver, acknowledged it and promised to improve....dont see too much else they could have done.
@subspecies: I just told you why I think they closed comments...you tell me why they closed comments, and maybe we'll agree....maybe we wont.
I do know the definition of a "lie" and "dishonesty", and I'm pretty sure we don't agree on that...unless putting huge "Play in 4k" slogans on upscaled games is a lie, or dishonest.

What does any of this have to do with MS being dishonest.
@subspecies: Because you accused ms of being dishonest, and theres only one definition of dishonest. As far as I remember they told us we would see next gen gameplay, and we did. I didnt think it was worth watching for what it's worth, and none of the games i saw blew me away...so I'd substitute your "dishonest with gamers" for "disappointing for gamers" and move on.
At least they admitted things went wrong like you said.

My point is dude that MS was dishonest. It's not a discussion. All of this other crap you're bringing up means nothing to the point.
@sealionact: Microsoft handled the situation quite well.
Both companies reacted accordingly to two completely different situations.
What's wrong it's trying to compare those reactions to those different situations. Microsoft removing comments etc. would have been terrible. Sony admitting they will do better next time simply wouldn't have been an appropriate response to a leak.

Sony would never admit to being wrong. Hell, they would just disable comments and likes for their video and pretend they did nothing wrong.
Yes like MS did with the xbox one in 2013..🤣
Sony apparently learned from the kings.

They did exactly what they always do,it was just classic MS,they think gamers are as stupid today as they were in 2006 with the 360,that just showing call of duty was enough.
Times change which is why it backfire even more when they strench all that shit to last all that time, when that montage could had been play on E3 in 4 minutes.
It was a classic test move by MS and then over sell them as gameplay when most was just wasn't gamers know more than that now, they are not as easy to fool.
Well some lemmings are but the rest no they aren't.

For real are you going to act like this and pretend this is MS first time taking people for fools?
You are been even more dishonest than MS just to defend them, but i am the blind fanboy what do i know right?
Loading Video...
You have to give it to MS they make games that instead of you controlling them they control you,see how that Jedi has such power that he raise his lightsaver and force the human on the stage to raise his as well EPIC.
So Sony was dishonest about backward compatibility? SSD and the effects on system power?
Of course not, its PR
I am curious to know how you will try to pit this 2 scenarios and try to make an argument as been the same..
So go ahead.

Microsoft Disables Comments For Xbox One Videos Following Harsh Criticisms
So what happened? Why the censorship? Well, if you visit the promo videos for the Xbox One on YouTube you'll notice that despite the comments being disabled there are a ton of “Dislikes” for the video as a show of protest. The entire thing has been a rather overwhelming affair for Microsoft, even causing Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb to take time off Twitter from all the anguish.
But getting back to YouTube...before the comments were so quickly disabled, Pixel Enemy managed to take screencaps of some of the posts along with NeoGaf. So what were people saying? The typical “LOL, failbox” and “we don't buy game consoles for TV” and stuff like that. The posted links have plenty of gamer rage to embrace if you're into that sort of third-party sadomasochistic behavior. I prefer embracing the hate right here on our site, and maybe a few of the other sites, just so the hate feels a lot closer to home, you know?
Now now don't trow stones if your roof is made of glass.

Sure we will not agree with lemmings you claim PS now is BC but some how gamepass is not when it charge you for xbox and xbox 360 games which are included on the package.
So you see you lemmings have a twisted version of reality that is scary.
They told people to watch that there would be gameplay they show a bunch of cut scenes with no hud in almost everything and some how they were not been dishonest.
Oh look, he has a raven on his should. What will be the purpose of that raven may you ask? It will serve as a damn drone, scanning the area for enemies and unveil 42342345345612 new quests/objectives on the map. Its really hard for me to understand the hype behind the series.
I don't think they were dishonest just a bit clueless as to what a shit idea it was so basically just being MS.
At least we were spared an E3 version of this: loud voice booms 'World Premier' then we cut to Phil Spencer all smiles proudly presenting someone else's games while the braindead fuckwit lems in the audience whoop and yell like maniacs insanely happy at the sight of..... a multiplat?
