@zaryia: Fighting games beg to differ.

They come close to some PC games, but no dice against the high end stuff. And that's only 1 genre, PC has several. Oh and that scene is extremely small in comparison, both terms of gamers and professionals. It's like comparing little leagues to MLB.

So.it looks like consoles are beating PC again.

It takes 6~ consoles to almost beat PC. PC alone destroys each and every single gaming system.

@zaryia: EVO is actually quite large and one of the most popular Esport tournaments.

But thats just 1. PC has dozens. Console's competitive scene is a drop in the pond. Whether it be people at home or professional esports, PC is exponentially superior for competitive gaming.

6 consoles??? Im a bit confused on your math here because as far as i know only 4 and soon 3 consoles are making up 99% of that. Id say it a fair comparison since the PC is a broad platform that consist of far more then dozens of hardware configurations and multiple software platforms aka Steam, Battlenet, GoG etc.

Name one console that has a higher revenue than PC.

Uhhh...PC is 1 system. SW rules bro. Also common sense. I've never been to a gaming forum (or IRL) were someone told me PC was several systems.

Edit: the overall E-sport gap is nowhere near as big as you claim.

3 of the top 10 are console based and 2 are arcade based. So not as large as you make it.

Audience attendance =/= skill cap. If you want to get into gamer count, LoL alone has more players than the entire XBL or PSN. Also, that's a 3 years old link and only includes the top 10. Even then, it shows PC dominates Consoles wildly. Add in the rest and current day, it isn't even close.

There are barely any console games in these lists,

Higher APM and reflexes required in most of the above. Drop in the water.

TLDR: He was dumb to scoff off games due to their business models.

@zaryia: 1. Except its not true... LoL pales in comparison on skill cap to SF5. Im guessing thats your example you are using..It requires far more skill to play SF5 then LoL. It has 100 million users for a reason and its not because its difficult. Moba reflex time is a joke compared to fighting games certainly SF5.

I was referring to CS:GO (Among other shooters), which are F2P in China. Any single highly competitive shooter on PC is exponentially higher skill cap than consoles small serving of fighters. But the MOBA thing is arguable, I still contest they have a higher skill cap. RTS and FPS most assuredly do. Either way, all 3 of those genres offer many more games and players than Fighters (which are also on PC, mind you -> SF5 is best on PC).

Either way, it's stupid to scoff off F2P. That was the point.

PC's Esports is mostly regulated to two genres that are mostly popular in Asia.

These details don't detract from it though. RTS, FPS, MOBA. PC Esports is considerably larger, and the games used are considerably more popular for non professionals. PC is the system you go for competitive gaming. More games. More genres. More gamers. More tournaments. Bigger tournaments. This is a fact.

Im sorry but the only thing that matters is real life.. not this forum.

PC is regarded as 1 gaming system both in real life and in the forums. You're making up your own rules that don't apply anywhere.

@zaryia: SF5 competitive scene is done mostly on PS4. And no neither FPS or Mobas have higher skill caps then fighters. Thats absolute nonsense. As for more gamers and more tournaments thats great if you like RTS and Moba and live in Asia.

1. SF5 is on PC, and best on PC. You can't use it in a console vs PC debate.

2. FPS, MOBA, and RTS have a much higher skill cap than fighting games. It's almost hilarious how big the gap is. Hence why they have much larger and numerous tournaments with much much higher payed Players and Tournament Prizes. Fighters barely register. If they were as good they wouldn't be dwarfed.

3. Whats wrong with Asia? This seems like an arbitrary rule you made, many people in UE and NA play these games both casually and competitively. How does this effect consoles being a distant 2nd in competitive gaming?

4. PC is 1 system. For example, PC > PS4 in sales, gfx/performance, competitive gaming, and library. Not NVIDIA, ATI, INTEL > PS4 ~.
