Interesting that Switch got a pretty big boost out of... nothing really. I guess we can assume RE2 Remake & KH3 PS4 versions hype has died down it seems even though those games aren't on Switch.

Also, it looks like Famitsu no longer posts hardware data. I wonder if Sony is trying to pay them to cover up data like The Big 3 did everywhere else.

Switch boost is due to new stock of the Pokemon Let's Go hardware bundle. And JRPGs are always super front-loaded. FFXV had a similar second week drop. KH3 might struggle to even hit a million due to the huge used games scene in Japan.

@techhog89: I never really care for Pokemon Let's Go, I'm just waiting for the real Pokemon game coming to Switch which peaks my interest. I do know KH3 is doing fine on it's own but for how long?

It could take more time to convince one than the other. Anyway it's just something to think about since that's why NPD stopped giving numbers.

Did NPD ever actually give numbers? Since it's a subscription service, it's the publishers that can choose to give out the actual numbers for their product. NPD only gives general statements at the end of the month. We have to depend on leaks otherwise.

There's no reason KH3 can't be on Switch.

PS4's comeback? It sold 60,000 consoles in a week where 2 games on the platform sold nearly 800k copies. That's pretty much proof that most people who want a PS4 already have one.

I didn't say "only." I said that it made up the biggest share. The difference was less than a million, and it was PS4's second best year (meaning that you can't use its age as part of your point). PS4 is also available in some places that Switch isn't, such as mainland China, and Switch is on track to win the fiscal year worldwide.

All of this during a year when PS4 had hit after hit and some discounts while Switch had nothing but droughts and cardboard according to you. And Switch is still ahead launch aligned, which matters more (though I admit that it'll fall a couple million behind by April due to PS4's third holiday).

Tell me this: Are you going to say it doesn't matter if Switch wins 2019, even if it sells over 20.2 million? (That's the most PS4 has ever sold in a single year.)

And then you have your last sentence, which implies that you believe Switch is dead after PS5 launches, yet you also say that Switch has to sell like 30 million this year for it be good? I think that Switch will win for the 2018 fiscal year (April 2018-March 2019), and will sell more than PS4 ever has in any calendar year in CY2019. I do admit that Switch won't end with a LTD as high as PS4's but it'll be a lot closer than whatever number you're thinking.

That's PS4 Pro's number for the week before (thanks to bundles).

Switch has FIFA, and Switch is selling just fine without COD. EA and Activision aren't that important if Nintendo's First Party is carrying the system which has a better attact rate than any of Sony's First Party Movie Games. Switch will outsell PS4's 3rd year and will reach 100 million slightly faster, and PS5 will take off slower than the PS4.

It think it’s crazy that the Vita is beating out everything below it COMBINED. This includes the 2DS and New 3DS, how is that even possible I thought they stopped production of Vitas.

That could be due to limited supplies as production has stopped. The Vita was a great piece of hardware, that Sony needed to support more and sent it out to pasture because of the lack thereof.
