On behalf of our teams across Montreal, Edmonton and Austin, I’m excited to announce that Mass EffectTM: Andromeda will be launching in North America on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 and beginning Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Europe. We appreciate your patience (and in fact, even your lack of patience in some instances) as we’ve been focused on completing the game. Here’s a little bit of context into how we’ve gotten here.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems. And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the FrostbiteTM game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.

Over this holiday break, developers at BioWare took home a version of the game in what we call the “holiday build”. This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure. Coming back from holiday, the feedback has been great. Getting the endorsement from members of our studio, many of whom played key roles on the original trilogy, was definitely a key factor in helping us lock in on the date.

Even more exciting for us over the last couple of months has been seeing the excitement build in the community as we’ve started to share more about the game. The passion you have for the franchise continues to drive us. And now, we’re just a couple of months away from delivering a brand new Mass Effect experience to you for the first time in five years – richer, deeper and ready for exploration. We’re excited about how far we are going with the franchise, and we hope you find it’s been worth the wait.

That sucks. If it had launched before the Switch release, I'd have picked it up day one, as it stands it's likely to release after the Switch launch, and I can't justify buying a game for a system, when I'll have just gotten a new one. So personally I'll be passing on it until a later date, possibly even just wait for a GotY edition, like with Dragon Age: Inquisition, which means this will be the first Mass Effect I won't have bought day one.

I'm ready for it.

So the civilised side of the Atlantic are now second class citizens? We have to wait two whole days longer than the US to play it! Screw that, I'm pirating it that'll teach them to treat us like an inferior subspecies!

I'm joking of course, looking forward to it. I just hope they finish this new trilogy in a better way than "pick red, green or blue"

You could just use a VPN and download it early (presuming you are going to play it on PC), Origin is pretty lax about that kind of thing.

Also, this is not going to be a trilogy.

Wow that's relatively sudden.

With what little that has been shown I can't help but feel that's too early. Still too much of the game behind the curtains, and no reason not to showcase it unless the unseen elements are nowhere near done.

Or they are spoilers.

I don't know what to feel about it. It looks like it's gonna be awsome but at the same time I hate that it's gonna be so disconnected from the previous games. After the epic journey I really had my own ideas for an ending and they differed a lot from the actual.

Did Xbox force their hands into revealing this earlier lol? Don't care either way, I always had the impression it would be sometime in April.....glad we got a firm date though finally.

Well that's good and all but until I hear this game went Gold, then I'll finally believe it and when a game goes Gold, there is no delays after it went Gold. Anyhow, I already pre-order Mass Effect: Andromeda on EA Origin standard edition.

Sooner then I thought it would be, thats a short time between ME4 and P5...

Andromeda was supposed to be a start of a new trilogy from what I remember Casey Hudson said before he left.

Wow you've never played any Mass Effect games? Really dude?

Once of my favorite RPG series this era since they released the 1st one. The 1st one was more RPG then after that they went more action base but the story has been great and the gameplay always kept me engaged.

And it should be noted that Mass Effect trilogy games are all BC for Xbox One and that includes all DLC. The games should be dirty cheap by now, especially the first and second games anyways. I played them all on Xbox 360 and now on PC.

I think you can only get the 3rd one from EA Access if you want it digital. The first 2 you can buy on Xbox Live. You should definitely try them out.

I hope the Adept is as fun as it was in ME3. Spamming biobombs never gets old.

Games get delayed because they are unplayable and need to be fixed.

Games that are gold need day one patches because they are unplayable and need to be fixed.

Ok, I know this isn't the case for every game, but there are a few similarities here xD

2017 starts with a bang!

The game is gonna be so fookin' tight!!! Who's missing out? Who else but sheep... as always.

It's all good. Normally I'll take a delay over a day one patches and chances are, day one patches ends up a even buggy mess.

I'll be too busy playing the Switch...unless it also comes out for it which I'm highly doubting at this point.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite game on the Cita... release schedule. Seriously though, should be awesome.
