Statement

Over the past few days, we have been reading comments and message boards following the Xbox One announcement. There are a few questions regarding used games. I wanted to clarify and provide this official statement:

The ability to trade in and resell games is important to gamers and to Xbox. Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games. Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete. We will disclose more information in the near future.

Can we wait until MS releases more info about this guys now?

They need to clear all of this up well ahead of E3. Otherwise all their games will be completely overlooked.

Even if it's true, I'm pretty sure it's hard to stop people now. The news has spread widely.

Anything besides "We aren't taking any measures against the used game market" is unacceptable.

All they need to do is make you register the game on a new console because of the new install feature. No fee is required. That way if one disk is registered 100-1000 times they know somethings a miss. Problem solved! If they do this I'm in. If there's a fee I'm out it's that simple.

Good to hear. His second comment in as many days means MS is aware of how big an issue the used game thing is. Hopefully we get a resolution that everyone can live with. But its nice to know they are aware that this is the biggest MS issue.

If there is a fee, it should be to gamestop. They make all the profit. Although, Im sure they'll just push that cost to the consumer.

M$ knows what they are doing. They can't come out and give a clear answer because its too far from launch. They want people to find out after its too late because not everyone does research.

I'm pretty sure that are some kind of fee or restriction! Other wise they can simply said that used games are support at 100% (something like that)

Actually if they are reading message boards (And according to Cows they have one person per Kinect's sold watching every household through Kinect's lens so I am sure they hire people to read your shit all day as well.), then they know where they need to fix things before E3. I am not saying they will fix all the problems, but they are probably gonna reconsider some things.

There are alot of casuals out there who have no clue about used games being blocked or internet being required or that Kinect will spy on people to charge for every person watching a paid program.

Why would it cross their mind that this will happen?

For people saying that won't make a plan that benefits the consumers they probably will if their is enough backlash to all that info that was posted after the conference. They are still talking about this most likely anyway.Companies do change their policies if they think it won't benefit the cosumer who buys their product.

Which is most likely going to be limiting our options to places like Gamestop where MS and publishers will now get a piece of the pie. Private transactions are going to be nonexistent.

No, they change their policies is the backlash is so huge they think they are going to get laughed off the stage at E3. Microsoft or any other company doesn't give a sh!t about consumers. Sony and Nintendo are pro consumer they just understand that consumers aren't going to take this laying down. M$ is just fvcking stupid and thinks people are going to be okay with this sh!t. Obviously they're wrong.

Maybe because Microsoft actually announce shit on TV instead of online like Sony and Nintendo? Maybe because CNN and other news publications are actually talking about the XBOX ONE? (Something they hardly did with PS4 and Wii U). And unlike Nintendo who does not make commercials and Sony who only makes commercials about games, Microsoft will spend millions to advertise the Hell out of the X1 which will get interest up. In the States at least, we will hardly go anywhere without seeing XBOX. Word of mouth + Gamestop and other employee's explaining the system = They will find out way before they buy it.

It seems to me that there is no official policy in place to deal with used games. There will be some type of fee/online pass built in but it's still a work in progress. This is why they are not ready to clarify anything. Just my guess.

It must be so unnerving for them... Those who have insights that could (in theory) quell the raged gamer community. I wonder if there is a mass of MS employees just sitting there, dying to tell us how their grand master plan will unfold to make all of this worth it or even just okay...

That is... assuming said information exists.

Why do you all keep saying the internet is required? They have said repeatedly that you can play single player without online but in order to take advantage of multiplayer, movies, and apps you need a connection. We have been doing that for 10 years now. Kinect being required to play makes sense since most of the games will utilize it somehow. And Sony is blocking used games as well. They just have not announced it yet.

Over the past few days, we have been reading comments and message boards following the Xbox One announcement. There are a few questions regarding used games. I wanted to clarify and provide this official statement:

Can we wait until MS releases more info about this guys now?

super600
LMFGDAO!!!!!!! We already gave them an extra month.. For the past month, ALL you freaking XBox supports would say is "Just wait". Everytime the news sites would say they corroborated the 1.2TFlops figure it was "Just wait" Microsoft put all their big wigs on stage for an hour and had everyone's attention and what is the story still from you guys? "just wait" The rest of the world is #OverIt What's taking YOU so long?

Even if they did fix this I would not get a Xbox One. I just know now MS out to rip, Bad enough we pay to play are games online, when its not worth it. Never had to pay to play most games online with PS3, PC, wii or anything else. MS is really out for that money. Any little thing they want money, even add ads on Xbox live while we already pay for Gold. They should be ashamed.

So PS4 for me no matter what unless Sony came out with some crap, suckier than what MS is doing, wont happen though. Sony this time around wants all the gamers.
